A. 5
B. 6
C. 9
D. 10
E. 12

We can create the equation in which h = the total number of hours of the rental. Note that she paid $12 for the first hour and$3 per hour for the remaining (h - 1) hours. Thus, we have:

12 + 3(h - 1) = 27

12 + 3h - 3 = 27

3h = 18

h = 6

12(1) + 3(n) = 27
n = 5
total hours = n + 1 = 6
