The matter should refer to subject because after the comma we have subject so.our main aim is to catch the option which conveys better introduction for subject.

Option (A) is incorrect because of redundancy issue. Had this option been 'being a divorced woman whose academic qualifications did not even include...', this choice could have been the correct option. This option does not sound correct to the ear as well. It is clearly incorrect.
(B) is incorrect because of 'not even including' phrase. It should've been did not even include. Also, the use of 'insofar' which measn 'to the extent of/to' is also debatable. This is the incorrect choice.
(C) is incorrect because two independent clauses are joined by a comma. The usage of "FANBOYS" could have made this option correct.
(D) is the correct option.
(E) is again incorrect because of the reason mentioned in option (B) - 'not even including'.
