Hi, I'm new here and to GMAT itself.

I was wondering which app to use to study on the go.

I thought the new Manhattan prep app pr gmatclubs famous toolkit were nice.

There is not much info on the Manhattan prep and I was hesitating on buying the premius pass.

It would be great if you all could let me know what apps are nice.

Thanks.

Would you like to use only an App? You can try enrolling for an online course. That can help a lot as well!

Initially, I was just looking for an app to use during my long commuting hours in Japan.
I don't mind spending $30~50 for the premium passes that most of the apps provide, but just wanted to know which specific one I should get along with what people use around here.

The Manhattan's app looked nice with good explanations, but didn't have the functions that the Toolkit has, such as the timer and the notepad.

As for the online courses, I didn't have that in mind at all, but that might be the just the choice for me, especially because I'm in Japan.
I will look into that as well!

Thanks for your advice!

Welcome to Gmatclub.

First, you need to specify which flatform mobile you are using (iOS or Android).

With android system, I tested some GMAT apps on Google store and come up with some good ones below.

1. Gmat Toolkits: This is the best one since it connects user's id with Gmatclub and get online questions from question bank. There are huge number of questions posted on Gmatclub forum so these questions are enough for you to practice. This feature is free.

Also, this app provides some premium question packs that you must buy it to use. However, you could get them for free with 25 kudos or trade for point.

Another point is that this app in iOS system is better than in android system since iOS version has more useful functions and get updated regularly. I don't know why.

2. Ready4GMAT: This one is totally free. There are a lot of questions for practice, but no one in this forum has evaluated the quality of these questions yet. Wait for that.

3. Manhattan Prep GMAT: There are some questions for practice, but I think most of them are also in Manhattan Prep Books. You need to purchase to get full version of this app.

4. Vertias Prep: Free download. I haven't tested this app yet, but this one is also good for you.

I think that Gmat Toolkit is the best one and , I could say that, Gmat Toolkit has helped me engage more with Gmatclub.

Note that GMAT apps are not good as GMAT books or online GMAT courses. These apps are just useful if you have a short time to relax or you are on the bus and it is inconvenient to read a GMAT book.

I have used Manhattan Prep App, but I didn't find it useful for the following reasons:
1. The advance quant sets in the app are same as those in the Manhattan advance quant book. So, if you have already used Manhattan advance quant, then those advanced, total 15 sets, is of no use.
2. There are no new questions in the App. Its the same as those in the manhattan question bank, that you get along with the strategy guides.

So, if you have all the guides, which you must have, and advance quant, then the app will give you no extra value - except the interface, which is undoubtedly awesome. I would rather ask you to get Kaplan Premiere as it will give you access to 5 high quality CAT.

Don't forget the Official App... though it is kind of not so helpful - I would let the reviews on App Store speak for themselves.

Veritas Prep has a great app and offers their ENTIRE On Demand course for free - you should definitely check it out. They also have a question bank in an app - https://gmatclub.com/marketplace/mobile-apps

Thanks for the exact review on the Manhattan app!

I see, I actually do have the Manhattan Prep's books, so it might not be as useful (other than the fact that I can work on them on the go)

I will check out the Kaplans as well!

Thank you for the detailed review!
(I have also added the OS info as well, thanks!)

I've decided to go with the upgraded version of GMAT Toolkit since I've found this forum and the app's little neat features very helpful!
(and because I found out the Manhattan prep's apps provide the same problems as the books, thank you for the info on this.)

I will also check out the Veritas as recommended by other people as well.
I should have tried online courses earlier!

Hi adogatemyhmw,

I have used 2 Gmatprep apps, the Manhattan prep's GMAT study app and the GMATCLUB Toolkit (Trial version), and rest assured both are great apps.

1- Manhattan prep's GMAT study app-

I loved this app. I think its very well designed with extremely friendly user interface. You can take multiple quizzes as per your requirements and track your progress. I used to practice questions everyday on my way to work which is great as you can use your commute to your advantage. Secondly it also contains some strategies which might be interesting if you do not have their guides. Most importantly they have some great GMAT like questions on the app with all the levels of difficulty. While yes there may be some overlap with advanced QUANT book, Most of the questions are different. In fact some are extremely challenging which might be good for practice, however one may not encounter this level of difficult on the actual test.

They have some great verbal questions as well which can be great for practice. Overall I think its a great app and can be added to your GMATPREP.

2- GMATCLUB Toolkit (Trial version)

This is a phenomenal app as well and can be a good addition to your prep. The App not only contains great practice questions but also contains flashcards for quick references. You can conveniently access the entire GMATCLUB from your mobile device. Further note that if you collect 25+ Kudos you get a free access to the full version of this app. Overall I think you can not really go wrong with either of the apps as both will be a great practice tool for your GMATPREP.

Hope this helps. All the best.
