Go for it. MGMAT Guides + OG 12 should be enough plus you have the Kaplan stuff

Hi,

I want to buy the Official Guide 12th ed and the 8 book set of Manhattan GMAT. Is it still necessary/an option to buy the Kaplan PREMIER? (Why?)

And If I buy these 2 or 3 books(set), what book do I have to study first, second... ???

Thanks!

I would just stick with the Manhattan series and the three OG books. This will provide enough coverage of the materials and practice questions. There's no need to collect all sorts of GMAT guidebooks.

Most recommend to start with math, so in your case begin with the MGMAT Number Properties guide.

Thanks! If I buy the Official Guide 12th, the one with 800 pages. Do I still have to buy the Official Guide Verbal and Math or are they included in the one with 800 pages?

That's my question to. Are OG Math and OG Verbal necessary? I'm buying 5 of the MGMAT books, OG, and Kaplan Premiere. I'm assuming OG Math and OG Verbal aren't necessary but just to make sure...

Sorry for such a late reply.

I think that the OG Verbal and OG Quant are important because they give you more exposure to official GMAT questions. Most other question sources are a step down from the OG. Some complain that there aren't enough difficult questions in these two books, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If they are too expensive, then consider purchasing the 1st edition instead.

And the questions in OG 12 do not overlap with the questions found in the OG Verbal or OG Quant.

BB, in the hardcore plan, you recommend to buy the Powerscore RC and the LSAT Critical Reasoning. I have read in a different post that both books are almost exactly identical. Why should we get them both?

I assume you mean Powerscore CR and LSAT LR?
You are right, I should adjust the two, but there are different practice question sets in the books. LSAT book has the official LSAT questions. Let me ask Bmillan01 about his opinion as well!
Edit: Looks like he has provided his opinion already, so let me adjust it.

Okay, for the chapters that can be found in both the CR and LR books, those questions are the exact same. Indeed, those chapters are the exact same. For example, the "Weaken" section has the same layout, the same words, the same content, the same order, and the same questions. There are probably other things that I could mention, but those would also be the exact same.

The only difference between these books is the extra content that the LR guide covers. The LSAT has more CR (LR) topics than the GMAT, so the LR guide will naturally go over those too.

As to the value of owning and practicing with both, I would advise you to not do so. Either buy the CR book or the LR book. There's not that many more practice problems in the LR book. If you want LSAT practice, then pick up the SuperPrep book. It's cheaper and has lots of LR and RC questions!

OG questions seem to be less difficult than the MGMAT question bank ones. I personally prefer to practice with more challenging questions to make sure I can tackle the ones in exam with more confidence.

Hi from Singapore,

I am a new member and I need a 700 above GMAT score to get admission into a Masters Program here. Just have 2.5 months to prepare (I know its not enough time) but am not currently working so can put in more hours for my prep. This forum has been very helpful but sadly hard to find the books recommended in singapore..so although I wanted to finish the books I have before I buy new ones I have to order all the materials I need now so that I can get them in time for my preparation. I have to buy the materials on amazon n then get them shipped to my friend in US who will ship them to me in Singapore. all this is time consuming so I plan to get all the materials now itself so that i will reach me on time.

So far for my Math preparation:
I have got all the MGMAT Math guides and the MGMAT Math Foundations
Probabilities for dummies
intend to go thru the GMAT club math book

For GMAT Verbal:
MGMAT SC, MGMAT RC, MGMAT CR
intend to go thru the GMAT CLUB Grammar Book, idioms list

Do I still need to get the Kaplan verbal foundations, PR 1012 or any other book?

My study plan is to get my basics right using these books and then for pratice I have already purchased the OG12, OG Math and OG Verbal

For Tests would MGMAT 6 tests +GMAT Club tests be enough? If not would u pls recommend which tests or books I should buy?

Welcome Iwanta750score!
Singapore is a beautiful place and a great place as a home base to explore Asia.

You don't need the Kaplan or PR books - stick with MGMAT guides. As to Kaplan Math Foundations, I feel the GMAT Club Grammar Book will be better. We have a downloadable PDF version and also working to post it all on the forum but it is taking quite a while to do... will probably take a few more months to post it all there...

Best Regards,
BB.

Thanks BB for the prompt reply!!! Just one more question..For Tests would MGMAT 6 tests +GMAT Club +GMAT prep tests be enough? Ideally how many full length tests should one take? Which ones do u recommend?

And yes Singapore, is a very beautiful place and i have been exploring quite a few places in Asia since I moved here.
