As rightly explained by GMATinsight, CAT materials do more HARM to the prep, so NEVER use it even if you get it FREE.

I am starting my preparation for GMAT, and I have an offer from a senior who gave CAT this year to buy some Arun Sharma books for a low price.
I wanted to know if the quant and/or verbally given in these books would work for GMAT too or should I focus on GMAT specific books.
Thanks

Strict No No to the CAT material - CAT has more topics which are not needed in GMAT.
Official Guide is a good material to start with. You can also use Manhattan guides.
There are tons of free videos on youtube topic wise (check Gmatclub's youtube page) to help you with your basics

I completely agree with everyone above. CAT material is a big NO.

It's always better to focus on books meant particularly for Gmat.
As other books may contain content that is not tested on the exam.
