If only 50% of people get admitted post-interview, either they're interviewing candidates that aren't getting in unless they cure cancer during the interview, or an awful lot of people do poorly on the interview, which seems hard to believe given the high quality of the applicant pool at these schools.[/quote]
That's true, but at least in a dedicated one-on-one interview for 30-45 mins you have more time to cure it.
With a TBD that has no right or wrong answer and a super-informal individual interview after that lasts 15 mins tops, you barely have time for a biopsy.
I guess I might just be sore from having been dinged, but I do honestly think that the format, while innovative, doesn't really help the marginal candidates...or at least is much less helpful than dedicated individual interviews.
