I am in the fortunate position to have admits from those schools. However, I have a hard time deciding which school to choose.
Background:
29 from Europe currently working in corporate strategy with a background in M&A and Consulting.
Goals:
Short term: Consulting in the US (MBB)- Backup: Tech
Long term VC in the US or Europe (Edtech)
Consideration:
Booth:
+highest ranking
+flexible curriculum
+great consulting numbers
-doesn't seem 'fun'
-not well known in Europe
-seems very academic
(-) parents would probably freak out if I were to live in Downtown Chicago (lol)
Kellogg
+love the culture
+great consulting numbers
+Global hub looks amazing
+lot's of team based learning (which I like)
-high cost
-not well known in Europe
Yale
+great reputation in Europe (prestige)
+like the raw cases approach
+they seem to highly invest in their MBA program and constantly climb the rankings
-I didn't like New Haven when I visited
-while the people I talked to are all super nice I felt like they're somewhat lacking the enthusiasm of the other programs and seemed more introvert - maybe less fun compared to Kellogg or Ross?!
-cost
Ross
+lower amount of debt post MBA reduces stress and pressure
+love MAP and the action based (team based) learning approach
+Venture funds are super interesting (but competitive)
+culture seems amazing and I think I would have the most fun there (on par with Kellogg) + I love the sports culture
-not well known in Europe and decline in Rankings is a bit concerning
-Consulting numbers don't look as great
-Stem track doesn't have many interesting classes
Fuqua
+half ride
+Alumni and students are super enthusiastic
-don't wanna end up in the mid-atlantic region and Fuqua seems to place less in the northeast
-don't see many advantages over Ross which would be half the cost
Got dinged from HBS and GSB and waitlisted by Tuck. Not interested in Wharton since I didn't vibe with them at all, so I don't think I will apply to any schools in R2.
I guess I'm leaning Ross but Yale (Prestige in Europe) and Kellogg (overall vibe and consulting placements) still attract me.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: Already asked Kellogg and Yale to reconsider scholarships. Both declined.
