Hey Veritas Prep, offering free admissions advice is really commendable!
I could definitely use some help with my goals essays.
I am a production engineer from Mumbai (Passed with distinction).
I scored 720 in my GMAT.
I am applying to Ross (r1), Booth (r2), UCLA (r2, McCombs (r2) (visited all these schools in April this year, apart from McCombs)
Extra curriculars -
play soccer for a semi pro club
weekly volunteer at a school for children afflicted with cerebral palsy.
Work experience-
Worked in management consulting (mostly supply chain) for 3 years. Quit last October as it felt like I wasnt making an impact on anybody really. Tried my hand at personal training as a career option for a month but that was too monotonous. Looked for career advice but did not find anything, so was lost.
That inspired me to create a career guidance company. I have really enjoyed working on this venture since Jan this year. Unfortunately I have nothing to show for it apart from some product launches that were well received by a few (can literally count them on two hands if I had an extra finger or two) customers. However, I have only recently conceptualized a scalable product.
I want to apply to business school to know how to convert this product into a business. This career path makes sense, but I fear that schools will not take me seriously as I have not actually created a business yet.
Hence I have trouble in the goals essay as I dont know whether to say I want to come back to India and work on the venture, or do I want to earn some work experience there in a similar field?
Any advice in terms of which schools I should apply to and how to write a story in my applications?
