I would really like to hear your insights on which schools I can/should target.
Overview
Indian. Male. Age: 24. Targeting fall 2015 admissions.
GMAT
730. Q50 V40. Exam taken in May 2014.
Work experience
3+ years as of fall 2015.
I work as a business analyst in the technology team of a leading US-based financial data vendor, in their Indian office. Responsibilities include: extracting requirements, designing applications, driving projects through their life cycle.
[*] Worked on the design and project execution for a data and document feed that caters to the entire organization
Duration: 8 months and counting (estimated at 12 months)
Number of team: 9, across 7 cities globally. Number of end users: 300+. Impact: High. Global top 10 priority.
[*] Designed a tool for significant process automation for a data processing team.
Duration: 4 months. User group: 25+ users. Impact: Medium. Top 3 priority for one particular data collection team.
[*] Designed a tool for document viewing, processing, and process management.
Duration: 2 months. User group: 15+. Impact: Medium. Top 3 priority for two data collection teams.
Education
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Tier 2 college, within the top 50 in India. 71% (approx. 70th percentile in the class).
Extra-curricular
Actively involved in music for 14 years. Playing the piano for 14 years, the guitar for 7 years, and the bass guitar for 3 years. Have won state-level instrument competitions.
Participated in and performed at 40+ events (100+ songs) over 14 years.
Have lead music teams of 2-15 members for 30+ competitions and performances.
Record music under a small production house co-founded with 2 other musician friends.
Occasionally consult for school/college music teams.
Target programs
I've shortlisted Kenan-Flagler, Tepper, ISB, McDonough, Emory, Kelley, A&M and Boston University. I plan to narrow this list down to 5-6 schools, but I would also like to know if there are better option outside of this list. I'm not sure which schools I should consider as reach, reasonable reach, on-par and safe.
Planned application timeline
Sept-Oct 2015 (Round 1 for fall 2015).
Post-MBA goal
I would like to work in the US at an IT major such as Google or Microsoft in a product management role, but would also like to look into the possibility of switching to consulting.
