I am wondering if these salary averages are including students who had jobs beforehand or are new careers. I'm wanting a new career. I feel like its a possibility these schools higher salaries are influenced by people coming in and planning to stay with a company already making high salaries. Any insight?

Hey dloren4
Thanks for posting. Interesting question. Here's the thing...most MBAs are career-switchers. Only a small percentage of students are sponsored. So it's fair to say that the salary averages you see are just that...averages. They are not unduly affected by students who return to their former employers.
Hope that helps!

I would say even if a student returns to their employer, generally for the key MBA feeder industries, most students are bracketed into the same salary/bonus tier initially. Some of the outlier salaries are usually one offs from students accepting big alternative investment jobs in the hedge fund, PE, or VC world. To your point these student probably have some familiarity or experience within the industry to warrant these high salaries.
