A note to all desi(Indian) R2 applicants, and this applies only to those who are internationals who dont have GC, dual citizenship etc.

Dont expect an invite anytime soon. For R1, none of the desi applicants got invited until the last week. dosa, me, tsaditya and saurabh all got our invites in the last week. So, dont worry too much about lack of invites. You will see others reporting invites and it will drive you crazy. I knew I went nuts and according to the missus, I was a real sourpuss during that period. Just relax! and focus on other schools.

Now, how about someone providing me therapy until the 01/15 decision date. :(

This is not true :) I am an R2 international applicant from Europe and I got an invite within 1 week of the R2 application deadline. Also I think there is someone from Brazil that posted an invite on BW forum

Darden, my post was specific to Indian applicants who are international(ie non Green card indians). Looks like the excitement of the invite has blinded you

well, congrats and all the best for the iview. Come back and share your experience.

Hi guys,

This question goes firstly to R1 people then to anyone who has a solid idea:

What is the approximate rate for applicants called for an interview? Half? One-third? Two-thirds?
I wonder how selective this process is. I checked accepted411.com but I don't find their stuff
much credible on anything. They have sth like 60%, which to me looks very high. Although
it makes sense when compared to MIT. Sloan's runs around 20-30% and done ONLY by adcom members.
Since Ross has Y2 students and alumni involved, a higher rate s/b expected...

Here we go, paranoia begins... :?:  :?:

At ROSS

Applicants interviewed: 40%
Acceptance rate: 20%

Therefore by geting the invite we have 50% chance of getting in, compared to 20% when we first applied :)

R1'ers- anyone think the calls will go out today? :) I mean the R2 interviews start on Monday, so they might just start calling people today or tomorrow right? :)

Dosa didnt you do a little analysis of the data from last year that showed the estimated admit rates for R1 and R2 at Ross last year. I thought I remembered someone doing it. I know that R1 was a near 30% and R2 was like half that or something insane, probably because they didnt anticipate the 50% increase in R1 applications.

Here you go. So assuming that the stats on b-week are accurate as well, you can gather this:

Applicants: R1- ~850, R2~2000
# accepted R1 ~280, R2 ~320
# interviewed ~550,650
% interviewed ~60%,35%
% accepted ~33%, 16%

So the % accepted after interview seem to the same ~50%.

Quote:
Last year, Michigan actually published their R1 stats in their student newspaper. I think it was ~850 applicants, 550 interviews and 280 admits. So roughly 30% was their acceptance rate in R1. Again I read this in an earlier post and did not personally read the article.

EDIT: I actually dug around and found this:https://media.www.themsj.com/media/storage/paper207/news/2007/01/29/Administration/Ross-Mba.Class.Of.2009.Taking.Shape-2683922.shtml

I think that it had to be due to the 50% increase in R1 applications. I highly doubt they anticipated an increase that large, when you get something like that you have to wonder if the next round will see a drop in applications. This year they might have readjusted R1 in anticipation of R2.

Also schools wont admit it but R1 really is easier, R2 isnt bordering on impossible like R3 but it definitely is harder. Just look at admin411 to see that. I think its a much larger pool of people, and also some are people who went for HSW in R1 but then hedged their bets in R2 and also some people who got into good schools in R1 but are aiming higher in R2. Someone who did 3 sets of essays during R1 probably has an advantage over someone who just is applying for the first time in R2 because the more essays you write the more you refine them.
