I'm in as well. Reapplying after scoring a bagel in '09 apps.

bsd_lover, thanks for pointing me to this thread. It's got tons of useful info. One question I didn't see addressed is whether it is advisable to use, in the current application essays, some of the work/life experiences mentioned in the previous years' essays? Would be most grateful for your insight on this.

At the risk of turning this thread OT, I'll just quickly say I reused some material and added new material. Probably about 33% reused and 67% new, but even on the reused material I went more in depth. When considering how much material to reuse, it's helpful to remember the definition of insanity as repeating the same action and expecting a different result.

latammc
Regarding school visits. is it worth it to travel all the way from South America to the US, go both to east and west coast (stanford only) just for a quick visit? I could do mostly for free using frequent traveler miles, but not sure about the impact in the final decision. However, I really want to show interest in my top 3 choices to the adcom

Any tips on this?

school visits do not carry any weight in the admission process but will help you learn more about the school...whether you "fit" into the culture. I never understood what "fit" was until I visited the schools. Also, schools do not expect international students to fly in...

I don't think a lunch will do anymore. He's a dad now, I think he only accepts bribes in the form of diapers and baby formula now.

I think its just HBS; they did the same thing last year, if I recall correctly. The other schools should be releasing their questions around the same time that they did last year.

there absolutely no reason to rush...the deadlines aren't until october i guess...chill out :)

"Beginning with the class of 2012, HBS will accept both GMAT and GRE results. We think that both tests will provide adequate metrics of what a standardized test can tell us about a candidate. It will take a while for us to do a complete update of every reference to these tests on our website — in the meantime, please accept this as official notification of this change."

Is this a sign for the changes to come? Will other school soon to follow?

There are lots of people in the same boat as you...you'll be fine. I am not touching b school apps until July - so come July we'll be in the same spot :-D

That's really interesting, I wonder what that means for the new GMAT format. Will they have to adjust to keep getting the GRE takers if this policy broadens?

I think GMAT is only available in 100 countries compared to 150 offered for GRE. Maybe school wants a little bit more diversity.

What if someone attempts both GRE & GMAT, will the higest be considered...hmm. I think even if they want to implement this, its a very short notice.
