For those who interviewed on campus with an 2nd year, did any of you get business cards, to send a quick Thank You note. I am curious.

I did, and my interviewer even told me she was supposed to give out cards. I sent a thank you e-mail but haven't got a response (I didn't expect a response, however).

I am curious because my interviewer didn't, if I am able to find their email from another source, whether I should email them? Any suggestions?

No cards... a good number of students I talked to simply forgot them (or so they said  ). My interviewer just wrote his/her email address on the back of my resume.

It should be in the bottom left side of the folder they gave you. It should have your interviewer name and their email if you interviewed on campus.

Personally I would email them. They don't need to know where you got the address from, so don't mention it. Information is public all over, just don't go stalking there Facebook and LinkedIn (since you can see who is looking at your info now).

I think it's more awkward to not email after an interview. I know we have a policy where I work that if we do not get a thank you, you do not get a callback.

Had my interview just recently. I think it went pretty well, but then again, show me an applicant who honestly thinks he aced his interview and I'll show you a liar lol Lots of second-guessing and sometimes thinking I rambled too much.

Had it at Starbucks...aka the 'official' venue for all off-campus MBA interviews.

Best of luck to all!

Agreed...there is no perfect interview unless you are simply one of the rare, talented people that are just naturally charismatic. I was a bit nervous for my interview at Booth and kind of stumbled when discussing a prior job (which is my main selling point) but we got a better convo going after I relaxed a bit. It was one of those interviews where you end up talking about other stuff which means you either totally screwed up and they are filling time or they loved you from before you talked and want to be personal. It's really tough w/ a 30 min. interview + questions. They kept on a tight schedule with 5 or 6 interviews at the same time....Basically we got down to why Booth then discussed leadership involvement and style and that was it. I'm not sure I had more than 4 or 5 real questions.

Tell me about yourself
Goals
Why is Booth your top choice
Have you researched EC involvement and what are you interested in

any feedback on phone interviewing? how hard is it? and will that effect my app negativly?

I will also have my phone interview later today with an adcom. I am not sure if it will reflect negatively on my application, because I currently do not have the convenience to travel. All I can do is believe that if I show them the person that I am (albeit is hard to do over the phone sometimes) then I do not hurt my chances.

I think adcom interviews over the phone will be less conversational and more to the point, because it is hard and ackward to be too personable over the phone in the formal interview setting. I think be prepared for the usual questions, try to be genuine, confident, and passionate about your goals, fits, etc. hopefully it will come off well. The interviewer will likely stick to the 30 minute interview time more strictly than an alumni interview so be succinct and get in your key points or message that you are trying to get across quickly without boring them too much (people can lose concentration in phone interviews more easily than in-person).

Best of luck.

+1

For what it's worth, I had an alumni interview that went pretty well, although the more I think about it the worse I think I did. The guy I had was nice but serious. I would post the Qs I received, but I didn't get anything that shouldn't have been expected. Just know your story well and the common WHY questions.

Mine didn't have any pre-printed ones, but he wrote his information on a stock card and gave it to me. I emailed him a thank you note and we've exchanged a couple emails since.

Speaking of thank you notes, I made a small blunder today.

I interviewed on campus yesterday and since I didn't get a business card at the end of the interview, so I tried finding my interviewer's email address on the Booth website/Linkedin. After quite a bit of searching, I emailed the admissions office and politely asked them if they could share his email address with me for this purpose.

But then guess what - I realized that I was searching for the wrong first name!! Yes, i got my interviewer's first name wrong and even emailed the admissions office about it. Sigh. Searching for the right name gave results right on the first page. So I ended up emailing the admissions office again and apologizing for my blunder.

Hope they don't hold this against me :).

I actually lost the card I was given so I called the admissions office and got their e-mail.

Yes- I got their email from google and just emailed them. Hoping that is okay. Also, the 20 mins of interview were so quick. First 5 minutes they gave me a brief background on themselves, followed by questions, and then 5 minutes to ask them questions. The questions asked didn't allow me to stress on how I would be able to contribute to Booth. But hopefully when I spoke about my resume was okay. Getting really nervous....and find it hard to move and stop thinking and reanalyzing....

I interviewed on campus yesterday and my experience was similar to others. The interview lasted about 30 mins with the typical why mba, why now, and why booth questions. He also asked about leadership examples from my resume. It was short and fast but overall I think it went well.

I just wanted to post what I heard first hand during the Q&A session at my Booth Visit recently. One of the assoc. directors of admissions stated that Booth invited "well over half the applicants in R1" and "roughly half the candidates in R2." He/she said based on the number of deposits, the yield for R1 candidates is "very high" with the deadline approaching this Friday (higher than anticipated). He/she frankly stated that there would be less spots for R2 applicants and Booth is expecting an overall acceptance rate somewhere "around 20-22%."
