Man everyone who's getting an invite has a crazy high gmat score. I used to think 710 was a pretty decent score....

Wow! It looks like most of the invites are going to people with 750-770 GMATs. Guess us folks with measily 700s have no shot.

OK, guys... now I am starting to panic and lose hope looking at everything that is going here. My short profile:

Female / 25 / from Russia / GMAT 770 / GPA 3.9 (double degree in economics/international relations from the leading Russian University) / 4 years of experience for Ford Motors

Applied on the deadline day, went complete on October 16th... Still no invite! I am already VERY depressed and do not know what to think and what to do! :.( Any suggestions what is wrong with me for Booth? :(

I think the high GMAT stats in this thread are skewed by self selection, i.e. those who are on this forum likely spent months studying so they could max out their GMAT. GMAT ninjas aside, I bet the true stats on those invited trend very close to the mean Booth reports, meaning everybody with a solid, above 660 score has a shot.

For those still waiting, I know how you feel - just have faith and realize its only the 4th! There's still another four days to go.

I posted earlier about getting an invite this morning but didn't include my stats. Because I don't like to trumpet my "measly" 700 :-P But anyways, here they are:

26 / F / 700 (w/very low quant) / 3.6 GPA from University of chicago / 4 WE / measly EC

see, I told you there's hope!

My mind tells me you are absolutely right... but I am getting crazy with only 2 interview invites so far while I applied to much more schools - where are the rest of them, what is wrong with me that they don't want to interview me?! :( But I guess everything I can do right now is to wait..

Hey, bonkselle23. Great news! I'm right there with you on stats. Do you think getting your undergrad from Chicago helped? I'm hoping that my rather unique work experience in alternative risk finance will at least peak some interest. Less we forget, this is still a political process. Good luck in your interview!

I don't know about the 750+ theory there... There definitely seems to be a trend about Chicago applicants having high GMATs on this forum, but I also tend to think that most people who mention their GMATs on a post have a high score. The process is so much more than just a score.

I have a 710, and an invite.

I think that for me it's a combination of being an alum (and my employer reference letter was also from a young alum) and being a marketing concentrator. The undergrad institution prides itself on its intellectual bent, and that's clearly Booth's shtick as well, so I think was able to tap into that in my essays. And, they're clearly pushing their new marketing center in a huge way and trying to build up their strength in that area, which necessarily means being favorable to marketing applicants for a while.

Those are my conspiracy theories, anyway ;)

FWIW, I got an interview invite two days ago and have a 730 GMAT, which isn't at the extreme low end of the 700 range, but also is not a 750+.

I think if you have a 700+, it's doesn't make a huge difference, perhaps not counting huge section imbalances, etc.

There's no science here. Your goal is to put the best app package together for review. After that, you simply let it ride.
