Using BW numbers, it's 24% admit / 64% interviewed = 37.5%

threestripes showed me an interesting twist though: if you remove the admits off the waitlist, then it drops down to 22.4% admit / 64% interviewed = 35% of interviewees are admitted with no time on the waitlist

I don't know of any published numbers on Tepper's applicants by nationality, so that makes a strictly international calculation difficult. But I think the general perception is that internationals have a lower admit rate due to a number of factors. This may only apply to those from India or China, but I don't know.

In the end, while the numbers are interesting, they shouldn't change your game plan. Give your best interview, and then you've done all you can do at that point!

+1 method. Agree with the #s and sentiment.

Regarding int'l applicants, here is an article from poetsandquants about the matter. http://poetsandquants.com/2011/11/19/in ... rejection/

The report reveals that applicants from China and India are more than four to five times likely to be turned down for admission than either domestic applicants or those from Europe, Latin America, Africa or the Middle East.
Last year, for example, 20% of the applications received by the school were from China and other Asian countries while 22% were from India. The school’s acceptance rate for the Chinese and Indian applicants was 10% and 8%, respectively. The acceptance rate for U.S. citizens was 39%–four to five times higher.

Do re-applicants get invited for interview much late in round?

Can any re-applicant from previous rounds / year share their time-line / exp.?

There is no fixed timing and a set pattern based on the stage of the application. They keep switching back n forth on the Stages, so it doesnt matter a lot.

Just sit back and relax !

Well said. Checking your status every day or hour only adds stress. Relax, they release interviews all the way up to decision day. No point in driving yourself crazy because when you do get an interview invite you want to be relaxed!

Calm down. Have a drink for now. Unfortunately all you can do is wait.

This is my second year applying to schools so I understand the concern and worry but my advice is that now everything is out of your hands so try to focus on something else or if you are so inclined practice for an interview. You don't have to be school specific. Go over:

Why you want an MBA? Why Now?
What are your short and long term goals? How did you form them?
What are your strenghts and weaknesses?

Remember those are big parts of the interview that people can underestimate so you can practice those and hold off on preparing for a specific school if you'd like.

Great advice. I interviewed at Tepper today. Did the whole class visit, info session, and campus tour. I made some meaningful connections while I was there... and frankly, it's hard not to. Everyone is very nice. The interview questions were very standard. Frankly, we talked about college sports for a good portion of the interview. It was very conversational. I left feeling good, and all of the others that visited with seemed to feel the same way. Here are the questions from my interview:

So, why do you need an MBA?
Why Tepper?
Why now?
I know that the program will give you a strong analytical background, why else do you want a Tepper MBA? - This question seemed to BEG for specific examples from your school research and interaction with students, adcom, faculty, and the Pittsburgh community. I suggest mentioning several clubs/student orgs that you intend to join and take a leadership role in. Remember, anyone can "join" a club, but I believe that it greatly benefits you to speak with passion about how you intend to take a leadership role.

This was the overall structure of the interview. My interviewer asked many follow-up questions that you should be prepared for. Also, my interviewer was clearly asking for information that is outside of the essays.

My interview lasted approximately 50 minutes. If you interview from this point on, expect it to be with a member of AdCom. I spoke with several members of the committee today, and they were all very welcoming and informal. That is the type of warm experience that you can expect to have at Tepper.

Also, a word of warning. If you are time-pressed and call a taxi to pick you up from campus, plan for the taxi to be 30 minutes late, or not come at all. I was on a tight schedule, and almost missed my travel home because of it. But, a great Tepper first year saved the day and drove me into the center of town. This is the kind of generosity that Tepper showed today. From what I understand, that's what the community is all about.

For those of you who will interview over the next few weeks, best of luck. Feel free to ask me any questions about my experience and I'll be happy to share more with you.

Good luck everyone!

I have my interview on the 20th.. and I REALLY appreciate your post. I am getting a little nervous although I do know that through my previous interactions, they are all so nice.
Any more questions to share? Thank you so much!!!!

The round 2 decision will be out on Mar 16. Do you think Tepper is going to send out more interview invitation for this round?

Congrats on the interview! I visited during R1 Women's Day and it was a GREAT experience. They schedule a full day of activities and it's very helpful to meet current students. I think the interview recaps posted on this thread are to point (definitely go back to the earlier posts from R1 applicants) and you will be prepared! Make sure to emphasize Tepper's culture and how it sets the school apart. Also, be mindful not to start rambling. My interviewer asked a question and then kept quiet. No nodding, smiling, or cues of agreement/disagreement as I talked. I think this is to judge if you can be succinct yet complete in your answers. Finally, don't freak out if the interview is short. Mine ended in 20 mins and I chit chatted to drag it out for another 10 mins.

Good luck!

Hello everyone. I applied for Tepper in round 2. However, TOEFL scores were missing and they received them on 7th of February. Do I still have some chance of interview invitation? My profile:

General Manager for 4 years in a medium sized transport company.
Total 6 years 6 months work experience till now.
GMAT 700 (did not have sufficient time to study).
Directly managing more than 50 subordinates, indirectly 600.

Please inform me if anybody has any idea on interview invitation in case application is completed one month late.

I don't know my reply will help you.. but you did still submit your scores for the TOEFL in the R2 application, right?
My official TOEFL score report was also late as well because of a mix up (Received by Tepper around the last week of January) but I received an interview invi before that nonetheless.
So if its just your official report that was submitted late, not the score itself, I don't think that will be relevant to the invitation!

Even with our limited sample, we can see that the latest R1 interview invite recorded on GMATClub was 18 days before the decision date. The R2 comparison to that would be a 2/28 invite, so keep hope!

Hey everyone, here's a video created by some second year students for a class (I think). It gives some Tepper perspective on Pittsburgh:

Thanks, vixer! What's going on at Tepper right now? Do most people have internships lined up by now, or what's the timing for all that?
