Quick question. On the application in the Employment section, it asks for the Employer's Total Employees and Total Revenue (if self employed). This may be a dumb question, but do we just leave this blank unless we are self employed? It seems weird they would only ask that for those who are self employed, most other schools ask for this information. Thanks in advance.

This confused me too, so I called admissions and they confirmed that you leave this blank unless you are self employed.

Oops, I thought it was an error on their side and filled it out (I'm not self-employed).

Hey guys...

Did everyone use the following link to estimate total MBA cost ~$86k/year for the "financing your MBA" section on the online application?

I wouldn't worry about it. I guess they want to make sure that if you are self-employed it doesn't mean you are mowing your neighbors lawn.

Hi people. Had my interview with an alum. I applied regular decision. The alum was very nice and after giving me a one minute personal overview, proceeded to ask me the following questions:

- Walk me through your resume.
- Describe a time when you faced adversity / an adverse situation.
- What are your long term goals?
- What is your post-MBA goal?
- What are some of the steps you might take to achieve your long-term goal?
- What is/are your backup plan(s) in case your long-term or short-term goal(s) do not pan out?
- Why do you want an MBA and why now?
- Why is Columbia the school for you?
- How will you contribute to Columbia?
- What are some of the classes / programs at Columbia in which you are interested?
- Describe a time you worked in a team.
- Have you visited Columbia or attended an information session?
- Do you have any questions for me?

Overall, I came out of that with a decent feeling, but time will tell. The interview was approximately 45 minutes. Hope this helps.

I'm a little at a loss of what to put in this section of the application. Can someone maybe put a reasonable example breakdown? Is the scholarship/fellowships section something that includes those we might expect to get from Columbia itself or just from elsewhere?

Has anyone scheduled their interview yet for RD? What if the interviewer you emailed to schedule a time is not responding? Do we just move on to the next person on the list? Do we email only one person at a time? I wish we were just assigned an interviewer..it'll make the process easier.

If the interviewer you contacted does not respond back within a couple business days, e-mail the next interviewer on the list.

It's probably to your advantage that they provide you with a list of interviewers to meet with. That way you can try and setup an interview with someone that shares your interests or is in your current/future industry.

If you're still doing this section, I'd direct your question to the below "Ask CBS Admissions" thread to have a CBS Admissions Assitant Director clarify what the adcom is looking for.
https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-columbia-gsb-admissions-121805-80.html

Personally, I interpreted the scholarship/fellowship section to be referring to scholarships coming from an outside source (not CBS) when I filled out my app.

I just saw that the answer is only scholarship/fellowships coming from an outside source. You were right. Thanks.
