Tried but failed, adcom is very diplomatic on this issue.
Hey guys,

For those already accepted, can anyone share whether CBS has offered any merit based scholarships?

Thanks.
Hey, thanks for asking - will be hearing about merit-based scholarships after the merit-based fellowship deadline (Jan-4). No scholarship-related news yet.

Does anybody know if for the short answer essay (the one limited to 200 characters). they include spaces for the 200 character limit? I assume they do but just wanted to check.

Thanks.

You won't get it for awhile. Last year I think they released some information in February/March and then the rest in April.

So I just now submitted Columbia (day before the merit deadline). Have I missed the boat on this one or do I have chances similar to a "round 2" type scenario.

Submitted a few days ago. Just got a message that said my application decision was now available. Scared and confused, I clicked the link. Then the message said my application was being printed and prepared for review. What a fakeout!

Who's planning on going to the admitted event on Feb 10?

i'll fly out and be there if i get in...crossing my fingers!

i had my interview (RD, submitted early October)....It lasted two hours (which is probably pretty long) and was a good discussion at a local coffee shop. He talked a lot about his experience and perspectives on the MBA program. The questions were mostly around why MBA, why CBS, back-up plan, ethical dilemma, and a few others. He also did a case question which lasted a good 20 minutes - definitely wasn't planning on a case question but it was okay.

In the end he seemed neutral, and the key thing he wanted to determine was whether he would want me as a fellow CBS alum (he didn't say whether I would be however, which makes me a little nervous). He did say I made the first cut (based on the interview invite), which he said he normally wouldn't tell people. I'm nervous because he wasn't enthusiastically telling me he'd write a strong recommendation as I have seen other interviewers have done....no idea what to think, but can't do anything right now...ball is in the admissions office's court

any idea how long it takes for an updated status to appear? will i know when the interviewer submits feedback?

Good luck and keep us posted. My interview was similarly neutral (however shorter), and he made sure to mention that he had no visibility into the process. It was a little strange, but he basically said, "I do not make the decision, and I don't know how much I impact the decision. All I can do is fill out the answers to a couple questions in a form. Best of luck." It felt like a failure to me, and that he was trying to mitigate his responsibility for my inevitable ding, but then I got the call about a week later.
I wouldn't dwell on whether or not you became drinking buddies with the guy, and just hope that you had direct, crisp answers to questions and displayed a lot of enthusiasm for the school and program.

Deferred early applicant. Just got ding.

For anybody who has gotten rejected, do you know if everyone's letter automatically says they think you would be better for the EMBA program? Mine said that my background and experience may be better suited...

If it's a pretty common thing for them to say I don't know how I feel about putting another $250 into applying again. However, I would be curious about others' experiences.

Not the best news to get while finalizing Wharton's R2 application.
