I was just rejected (without interview). There was no mention of EMBA in my rejection letter.

Stats in case people care:
2 years as a PM at a fortune 50 tech company and several patents to my name due to my leading projects which have gained company-wide notoriety, which led to my early promotion and receiving the highest bonus of anyone at my level
3.9 GPA dual major comp-sci+electrical engineering from top school
760 GMAT
Stellar recommendations
Good extracurrics

In fact, I was rejected without interview from every school I applied to. Granted, the only others were H and W, but still - I got someone who graduated from each of those schools to hand review each application before submitting. I think it's clear that for whatever reason, b-school is simply not in the cards for me.

Time to pull a Zuckerberg

Bschool is definitely not the only way to success, not even close - Warren Buffett was dinged by HBS (yrs ago tho) while Raj Rajaratnam is a Wharton MBA grad. When a door closes, a window opens. Let's not give up, folks!

I'm really sorry to hear that. I know its tough to get rejected but you have a really strong profile. If you were to try again next year to a broader range of schools (MIT, Booth, Kellogg, etc) I think you'd have a good chance of getting in. A consultant may even help you get in to H/W/C as a reapplicant. Don't despair, and best of luck to you!

way sorry to hear about the bad news. it does sound like you have enough ambition and experience to go do something awesome though! good luck with whatever you pursue!
do you think there was any part of your application that the schools may not have liked? because everything you said was incredible.

Thanks all for the positive wishes, but I know I will be alright whatever I end up doing.

There are only two things I can think of that admissions would not have liked.

1) Lack of experience. It doesn't matter what I did with my time, at the end of the day I've only got 2 years under my belt.
2) My story is about wanting to go in to entrepreneurship and while I have begun the process of starting my company with my partner (hence my allusion to starting the next Facebook) there is no way I could argue that I have all the experiences demonstrating what it takes to start up a company. Have I created a product from scratch, driven a team to execute it, and marketed it to wide adoption? Absolutely. But do I know what it means to put everything on the line so that if I fail it means millions lost for my investors? Absolutely not.

I feel your pain. Rejected without interview at Harvard, Wharton and CBS. Interviewed at Kellogg and waitlisted.

JPHFan, that's a surprise, you know a vast majority of the admits will have lower stats than yours. Perhaps it's worth a call for a ding analysis?

How long does it typically take CBS to render a final decision once your application says that the interview process is complete?

Tough news, but don't lose hope on Kellogg. Their yield is lower than other top schools so they may very well pull you off the waitlist. Best of luck!

Now that we are passed both the Early Decision and Merit Fellowship deadlines, has the chance for Class of 2012 admission to Columbia passed? In other words, is there any point to applying around Feb 1 or would the chance of acceptance even with a 750 GMAT be somewhere under 10%?

I submitted on the 4th a few minutes after 5pm EST. I didnt see any time-of-day for the deadline. Am I safe to assume I got in before the merit deadline passed?

Also, does anyone have a rough idea as to when interview decisions will go out, and when that interview window might be?

Thanks

Hello ppl,

I was wondering if we had a count of people who submitted their application in RD and have received an interview call.

I submitted my application on 3 Jan 2012, so dont think I ll be hearing anything in the next couple of weeks. But I am hoping that I hear from them sooner than later.
