I ranked ross 5 or 6 and Yale 3 or 4....but now I would go to Ross no scholarship over Yale full scholarship.

I know how you feel. I was going to apply to 4-6 consortium schools, but I really zeroed in on Ross and Darden. I dropped the other schools and focused hardcore on my essays for the winners.

Thanks!

I would actually love to see the statistical breakdown of %accepted to %interviewed through the Consortium categorized into different schools. Does anyone know where I can find that information or where I can find the raw data to calculate that? (the engineer in me) :-D

GMAT17325 It says that you interviewed at Johnson, now Darden coming up. I thought that you got the invite from Tuck also? 3 of six interviews through Consortium is pretty amazing to me.

And that's my point. Your No. 6 school is not where you want to go. Psychologically, ranking categories of things implies that you will NOT allow yourself to rank something really highly if your instinct tells you not to, given a significant number of things to select from (like, 5 or more.) If you go to a restaurant and there are six entrees for you to choose from, your mind will compartmentalize and naturally narrow down to 3 or fewer choices, as more than that becomes cognitively overwhelming. (Let's just say that I know a thing or two about psychology. 8-)) You are not going to choose between Steak, Chicken, Shrimp, Filet of Sole, Pork Chops and the Vegetarian option psychologically; you will consider multiple factors in a single instant and narrow those choices down, ranking the ones you are most likely to want in the short-term AND the long-term (read: "will I be satisfied with my food select for lunch later, when it's time to eat dinner?"). And after you've eaten, you could go back and say, "dang, I wish I had ordered the pork chops instead," but chances are you'll regret not ordering your second or third-ranked choice; you're not going to wish you had ordered your 6th ranked choice (let's call it the vegetarian dish, for effect. :) )

Now, I'm not saying you don't really want to go to Michigan, because hell...I don't know! But...you're a leader on this forum this year, so you know better than anyone that Ross statistically doesn't favor folks who rank them lower than No. 2 (maybe No. 3, but that's pushing it), and certainly won't give folks CGSM money unless they rank Ross as their top choice (I have seen them give other folks half, non-CGSM scholarships though, presuming they have awesome GMAT scores.) If at any point in time you (I'm using the proverbial "you", not the literal one. I mean anyone, really) thought that a 6th ranked school would be where you wanted to go, you weren't listening to your instinct. Chances are, your original decision hasn't really changed that much, and you made a relatively good choice the first time.

MORAL OF THE STORY YA'LL: If you ranked a school low, trust your instinct that you made that decision for a reason, and it'll make little difference in the long run, whether or not you graduate from that school, because all schools are so similar.

Not to beat a dead horse but I really want to make you see that your first paragraph is not true for everyone. I ranked schools because I had to. If I would be 99.9 happy to go to NYU (1st rank), 98.9 percent happy to go to Ross (6th school) and everything falls in between... you can't really say 6th school is not really where people want to go. I really want to visit about 20 different countries....you could ask me which is my top on different days and it would change depending on my mood. If I was forced to rank them.. I would... but I would be as happy with number 20 as number 1.

Personally, I didn't know about the CGSM fellowship when I applied...so that didn't factor into anything....even when I found out about it (after I submitted), I thought it was ONE fellowship that went to ONE person so I didn't imagine I could get it.

I don't believe in trying to game it with the rankings... I honestly didn't put that much thought into it (I spent more timing deciding which 6). UNC was my number 5 or 6...and I got a full fellowship from them .... I personally know 2 people that got went to Ross on full fellowships and ranked them low (not the cgsm scholarship).

Point is, there are so many theories.... I take it as the equivalent to not knowing and don't spend that much energy on figuring it out.

Okay, I think the horse is really and truly dead now.

Here's the best that I can do. This guy is on GMATClub. He is a current student at NYU and he runs all these statistical analyses on MBA applications process. He seems like a pretty credible source. https://www.mbadataguru.com/blog/admissi ... ance-rate/

Different strokes for different folks, as they say. My point was to not discount anyone's information on this forum, as it is all good info. :-)

Looks like yale is a no. They haven't updated their website for this year but this is what is on there for last year

Quote:

◾When can I expect to receive my admissions decision if I am applying through the Consortium?
Round 1 applicants should expect to receive their admissions decision on December 9, 2013. Round 2 applicants should expect to receive their admissions decision by February 28, 2014. Applicants will receive their decision by close of business (5 p.m. ET)

Even if we extended it till next week Monday - that would give them only 4 more days to send invites and make decisions.

I am not thinking negatively like that just yet. An increase of 30% in applications is a huge deal. I can't imagine that they were fully prepared for that. Based on that alone I still hold out hope for Yale.

Yeah, there's still hope. It's only Tuesday. You likely have until the end of this week for SOM to still send out invites...there's still hope.

Has anyone received an interview invite from UCLA yet? I applied back on the R1 deadline and haven't heard anything. I'm wondering if I should hold on to hope or get ready for a ding at the end of March.

Yep.

R2 here, I interviewed last week.

on the regular thread, someone got an interview today as did one of the bloggers I follow. I'm not sure what round they are though... seems like UCLA is a bit on the rolling process but not sure what it means R1 vs R2

christinemmx86 on page 19 of the 2014 Consortium thread. As of March 5th she had not been invited to interview at Stern or Anderson. She wound up with acceptances at both. calling-all-2014-consortium-applicants-153311-360.html

I am trying to stay positive. Remember also that the Consortium accepted applications up until 1/30. It hasn't even been a month.

Lazyboy8 is as hopeful as I am. This is not over until it's over. Personally, I will be totally pleased to get into with the schools I have interviewed with already but I STILL want my shot at interviewing at SOM. Just me!

I missed a lot here... I know someone mentioned something about a mid march interview at Darden, that does seem odd. Doesn't seem like much has changed in terms of invites though. Best of luck to you SOM hopefuls, fingers crossed for you all!

Hopefully that's on the way. They said those decisions will be made soon. The guy gave me a time frame but I can't really remember. I think he said two weeks, but he was giving me a lot of info so I can't be certain.
