Hi apple2005!

Thanks for the reply.

My main query regarding AGSM is that how good is AGSM for career switchers. And as of now AGSM doesnt offer a chance to pursue internships as part of the MBA. So that is my main concern.

Hi apple2005!

Thanks for the reply.

My main query regarding AGSM is that how good is AGSM for career switchers. And as of now AGSM doesn't offer a chance to pursue internships as part of the MBA. So that is my main concern.

Following are the two major themes that emerged out of all my discussions with alumni -
a) changing career will be a challenge, especially if it's a change in two or all three aspects - industry, function and geography.
b) if international candidate, PR is absolutely essential. Better to have a PR before coming to AGSM as not many companies sponsor PR. There are always a few who seriously suffer because of not planning for this. (One can check SkillSelect site to determine eligibility for PR)
c) International AGSM candidates are not eligible for the temporary working visa/pass post MBA as the tenure of the course <2 yrs. This is serious limitation for international (non-PR) candidates who might have an uphill challenge to secure a job or even PR (as they miss out on points assigned to work exp in Australia)

During my interview i touched upon the last point with my interviewer. I got the following response -
a) AGSM is working internally to modify the duration of the course and elongate it to 22 months by adding something like internship in the end of the course.
b) The UNSW has approved this proposed model by AGSM and they are now going to pitch it to Australian government. We should expect this to happen sometime around the time we join.

This is indeed great news if they are going to alter the duration which increses the employment chances post completion of the programme, however does anyone has any clue if it's gonna be introduced or applicable for the January intake. It is seriously a challenege to secure a job without a PR in Australia

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

This post is for those who decided to take AGSM offer & are looking for a perfect on-campus accommodation near AGSM.

I'm an AGSM MBA (Class of 2015) student going on exchange to London Business School in Session 4 (departing in December). I wanna sub-lease My 1-bedroom apartment at University Terraces for a month, available from 11 December 2014 - 12 January 2015 (end of my contract period).

University Terraces is the newest on-campus apartment accommodation with direct access to gym (with special price for residents), restaurants, and convenience store downstairs (IGA, Coco Cubano, Campos Coffee, MaxBreener Chocolate, ShareTea, etc). The weekly AUD407 rent fee (for 1-bedroom type) includes internet and utility bills. The new rent fee for the upcoming contract period is going to increase to AUD465 - AUD475, reflecting the disproportionate demand for University Terraces accommodation.

You will also get many homewares (cooking equipment, furniture, iron, ironing board, heater, scale, and many more) as bonus if you sub-lease my apartment for the whole period, so you don't have to deal with the hassles of shopping those stuffs upon your arrival.

And should you come to Sydney with your partner, the 1-bedroom type can accommodate double occupancy.

Please message me if interested.

Cheers!

Hey Guys,
Sorry to bother you'll, but I was hoping to get an honest assessment from you'll before I applied to AGSM for the January 2016 intake.
I've got a 620 on my GMAT but a reasonably good 4 years of work ex with an MNC under my belt. Just wanted to hear your feedback on the kind of profiles that finally made it to the school this year and was there anything specific or spectacular the guys with a lower GMAT did to make the cut? As I understand the GMAT isn't the biggest deciding factor on the overall application.

Look forward to hearing from you'll! :)

For all the new applicant in one year time, you will be disappointed if you go ahead with the offer.

There's no professionalism in running the institute.
Feedback doesn't matter to management.
Course have outdated content and don't reflect the reality.
Big doubt if they will feature in next year FT rankings.
Career development best advise to student - MBA won't get you the job in Australia. - So, then what I am doing here.
No domestic student come to AGSM and if they do they leave the course mid-way.
Infrastructure sucks- Ancient Building, Smelly toilets, broken chair and table.
Best business school have non disclosure policy in term of marks. AGSM don't act and behave like top business school.
Lots of manipulation and double talk.

MBAs have no value in Australia. If you want to spend 75000$, then better do it in US, where company value the MBAs and many consulting companies hire in hordes.
