Hey everyone, wishing all R2 applicants the best of luck! I am switching gears a bit here as I am curious about the work visa (both internship and full-time roles) situation.
Is there a challenge in obtaining visa to intern in UK/SG/HK? Does choice of home campus affect the odds for finding offers for internship in these 3 locations?
If someone spends just 4 months in SG (as one moved to Fonty after P2), will that person get a sort of post study work permit in SG i.e. can one stay in SG post INSEAD MBA without secured a job first?
Thanks!
After talking to a few alumni, I don't think even if you spend all the months in SG INSEAD MBA program gives out the post study visa of 1 year that other universities in SG give such as NUS or NTU. I am not sure if the policy has changed and I could be wrong but that is my understanding. Working in HK, the visa rules are much more relaxed but consulting roles as international (without knowing cantonese) is basically impossible. Banks hire a lot in HK. I think the only place to get a visa post INSEAD would be France campus for the EU region. I would not count on SG as a possible location for a job if you are not SG PR, that is just my take on the situation, they prefer locals with PR so SG people at INSEAD will be preferred way more. Other locations in Asia such as HK, Malaysia or even Australia can be a good shout I feel. I do not know of a single Indian from INSEAD who was not PR before that got a job in SG through sponsored visa lol. But that could be a limitation of my network rather than the truth so Linkedin could be a good place to do this research. Finally for UK, post-brexit, it is much more flexible to get talent form outside EU so chances are better I think but you would be competing with LBS and other UK schools such as OxBridge, Imperial, Kings etc. They have a lot of legacy Unis there and post-brexit local talent usually stays in UK as they don't get the EU visa anymore. Good luck!
