Hi I am waiting for R2 results.
I am targeting finance role. I just saw someone mentioned about visa issue. Is it easy to get working visa post Fonty? Not sure for my final results. INSEAD MBA is more reputable, I am not sure when it comes to job hunting in London/EU cities, if Cambridge MBA could weigh better. Just everybody knows Cambridge more than INSEAD.
BTW I don’t think visa in HK would be a problem for most of the intl corps will sponsor and HK has a very friendly talent visa scheme to apply.
I think it actually depends on what you really want to break in finance, investment banking & asset management? London still has its prestigious status and most global financial institutions open summer associate programs in London, post which I guess depending on your language skills you can go to European financial centers or choose to remain in London (Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Milan, etc for local front office roles - I speak from my experience in France that such things as “summer associate" doesn't exist in France not even for French financial institutions). Visa shouldn't be a problem (Switzerland might be tricky) as your job will qualify for the work permit in any case and those institutions won't have any problem sponsoring your visa. But London is London, does Cambridge really has a competitive advantage compared to INSEAD because it's in UK and a reputable university with name recognition around the world but not that pronounced as a business school? In London in any case you'll be competing with LBS MBA/MIF, all UK MBA and including Cambridge MIF and all European MBA for IB career .. On the other hand, if you have EU language skills and would like to work in Continental Europe, is Cambridge more recognized in finance in Italy compared to Bocconi, in France compared to HEC, in Spain to IE, IESE, ESADE, etc ... and what if eventually you decide not to pursue a career in Finance and not in UK? Isn't this what MBA for .. an occasion to think and think again .. i.e. I want to pivot away from banking I have 6 months to think about what I want to do (and begin to talk with people, a lot of people) before starting INSEAD in Jan 24 right now I have some ideas to break in to food & beverage industry but who knows maybe in the end I'll try consulting or if I don't get any luck and am gonna be stuck in finance again .. that's life right?
I mean I'm not saying INSEAD is better than Cambridge but just would like to provide some elements in the consideration.
