Hi All,
1st Year Haas MBA here. After hearing kryzak mention GMAT Club during an Admissions Volunteer Info Session today, I figured I'd check out the old board. I was a frequent visitor of the forum this time last year, though mainly as a lurker. As someone from the East Coast, who couldn’t just visit campus on a whim, I found it to be an excellent source of information on Haas. With that, I’ll share some thoughts on my first few months here:
- The small class size makes for a tight-knit culture
- The weather’s awesome
- My classmates have a wide-variety of professional interests. People here are truly passionate about technology, media, entrepreneurship and socially responsible endeavors. Plus, a fair share are pursuing careers in healthcare, consulting and finance
- Everyone’s heavily involved in clubs and other extra-curricular activities, as evidenced by the sea of ’volunteer’ shirts at the >play conference last week
- People in Berkeley are really friendly. They won’t run you over with their cars, unlike in NYC.
- The location is great. San Fran is only a BART ride away and you can always find a group going into the city during the week. If that’s not for you, there’s always the option of hanging out in Berkeley or doing something outdoorsy-hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, golfing, etc.
- Another thing about location is the access to guest speakers. I’m taking a class called ‘Life as an Entrepreneur’ and sat in on a presentation by the creator of Guitar Hero. He gave out free games!
Yep, there’s a lot of good stuff going on at Haas…
Thanks for your insight!
I'm living in Asia and its quite tough for me to visit Haas in a short notice... Read from Haas website that Haas considers visiting the campus and participating in a class a +++ point... So its quite comforting to see someone getting an admit w/o the campus visit...
Anyways I will apply for R2 and hope for the best!
