I called the tech support and they suggested that the error could be due to firewall. I was indeed trying to upload through work network. I'll try to upload the pdf later tonight from home

Has anyone bothered to upload a scanned copy of the transcripts? I tried but I get an error message that it needs to be a .pdf file. I am indeed trying to upload a .pdf file < 300kB :)
I'll just mail a hard copy.

I had the same problem trying to upload a pdf (both for transcript and for resume). I thought it was because I was on a Mac, and I was planning to try again on a PC. Any chance you're using a Mac too?

I experienced this problem too when trying to upload my resume an hour ago. I called the admissions office and they recommended I try a different browser (IE). The upload worked fine with IE. I was using Firefox.

FWIW, I tried again later on a PC with Firefox and it worked for me. Guess it's just a bit moody :)

I am an applicant from India and have already started on the application process for the Haas. When I read in details of the TOEFL waiver, I came to know that applicants studied in Indian Universities with English as medium of instruction also have to provide the TOEFL score.

I don't understand when most of the schools gives the candidate an option of taking a TOEFL waiver in case he/she studied more than 2 years in Universities with English medium or worked in country for more than two years in the English speaking country, why Haas is not providing the same option.

I have already send the GMAT score to HAAS, but now knowing that it is not recognizing the Other Education System, I am reconsidering whether I should even apply in round 2 with the TOEFL score.

I just called the adcom and asked for the options of the waiver and she told me that there are none for Indian candidates.

P.S.: I have done my undergrad from IIT, and worked for 6+ years in MNC in US and India. I know that TOEFL won't take much time, but I am not comfortable with the reason to take it.

Just submitted my R1 application. The message at the end read:
"You will still need to send in your supplemental materials (e.g. transcripts, printed recommendations) in order to complete your application."

Transcripts: I've already submitted my scanned copies. I'm required to mail in the originals only at the time of the interview, right?
Recommendations: If submitted online, the printed recommendations aren't required, right?

I'm not sure why they have that notice. My understanding of transcripts and recommendations is the same as yours.

Congratulations on the submitting this school as well!

Hi,

I have certain questions regarding the test scores.

As an international student whose native language is not English, I have to submit my TOEFL scores. I had given my TOEFL test in the last week of November 2008 and that score remains valid till the end of November 2010. Since I am applying to round 1 which has its deadline on October 13th 2010, I thought my current TOEFL score report to be valid. But, while filling the test score details in my online application I found that the TOEFL test should have been taken during or after June 2009.

So I am concerned about whether I can still apply to the first round of admission cycle with the existing score or should I register for a test as soon as possible. In the case of the latter, can I still submit my application in round 1 by giving the date I will take the TOEFL test again. For example, if I am scheduled to take my TOEFL test on 13th October 2010 can I mention that detail in my application. Moreover, I can see a small box where I can mention the future TOEFL test date in the online application page. So, can I mention both my old TOEFL test scores as well as the future TOEFL test date on the same application page.

Though I have approached the AD-COM I am yet to get a response from them(thinking of giving them a phone call asap), but your advice would be valuable for me.

For all reapplicants, did you re-write all the essay questions or just write short answer #3 (which is a new question different from last year)?

I applied last year in R2 and interviewed and remained on shortlist until R4 was over. Now I'm preparing for R1 this year, wondering if I need to re-write all the essays. I know I will write an additional one to explain how my candidacy enhanced since there.

What's the strategy here? Thanks everyone!

Question for kryzak or others: my manager has been working on a recommendation letter for a while that flows, tells a story, all that jazz...and has just realized that the online form asks for the response to be broken out by question. There's an option to paste a single response for everything, but the form has a note that the school "strongly prefers" that they be separated.

Is it really a bad thing to paste a single response? My manager, bless her, doesn't want to let the small stuff have an impact on my application...but I hate to have her spend more time splitting it out if it's not necessary.

Thanks for the input!
