for those of you who got an interview and completed it, congratulations on making it thus far.

does anyone happen to know why european and asian applicants got interviewed first? has anyone from the states heard back for an interview yet?

Yeah, I am wondering the same. I haven't heard back for over 6 weeks... Unless my application is in the ding file waiting to be sent over the internet.

Unless my application is in the ding file waiting to be sent over the internet.

By opening the ED so early, it has created a wider grey area of profile put on hold.

If you re well below or above the target (before or/and after the ITW), a decision will come fast, otherwise it s going to take time...
CBS wants to snatch H/S/W potential applicants, that s what they re hunting at first, they will fill the rest with the other M7 profile later this summer.

Patience....

I don't think many HSW hopefuls will apply to ED early. Anyway, There's always other schools.

My initial question was based on the fact that out-of-state applicants heard back first in terms of interview and such, but no responses given to in-state applicants.

Then it s going to take even more time... I start other applications this week end, to keep the timing and get my mind off the decision process..

The sample is so tiny to make any statistics...

One thing for sure is that they look at j-term applicants first.

Yeah. I think that's the only thing we know for sure.

For Sept ED applicants, it doesn't seem anything really changed in terms of time frame.

submitted my app yesterday - wouldve been much earlier if it werent for my rec. being so slow... I am probably below the requirements in couple of areas so I guess i wont be too disappointed if i get dinged... Yes I do think CBS is trying to recruit top students gunning for other top schools but if someone thinks he's got a good chance to get into HBS i doubt he/she will try ED with cbs though - probably just RD.

Hey hazay,

If you are admitted in CBS, Will you still plan to apply to H/S/W? How about the $6k commitment?

Good luck!

CBS is my first choice by far > ED Round

I am starting other applications (K/W for now) while waiting.. but will stop everything if I am admitted to CBS

The question is can I get in at K/W while being denied at CBS ? I think so. HBS is less likely.

Folks, I am going to submit my CBS application sometime in the coming few weeks. There seems to be a lot of activity/interview-invites and, hell, even a ding(!) or two on this forum already. I am wondering just how many SEPT'11 ED applicants have already submitted their apps? Is all this activity for J-term only?

I thought submitting my ED app (for Sept'11) as early as August would give me a leg-up, but is August already a bit late for the super-prepared Sept11-ED applicant?

Hey guys -- just went through all of the posts on here. Seems like everyone is very knowledgeable. Hoping that the group can provide me with some advice.

I am applying to the J-term program. I have a quantitative finance background, strong GPA, good story, etc.

Took the GMAT recently and scored a 710 but with a low quant score 65%.

Was wondering how much Columbia cares about GMAT score breakdown? I know for example Wharton is overly concerned with the GMAT quant score.

Any thoughts on how the Adcom will view this if the rest of the package is there? Is this a definite re-take situation?

Also trying to keep in mind that if I re-take the test that postpones the application submission by a month, and I might not do much better...

Thanks in advance everyone.

re-take it. you will need a better quant for other schools anyway.

Dinged, about 5 minutes ago. Ouch!

Apply ED or RD again. Maybe you got rejected because they didn't feel the your goals lined up with those of a typical J-term candidate.

If the quant is 65%, according to my score report (trust me, I've taken a few :-D ) it should be low 40s. Yes. I would take it again.

For hazay, I've seen from last year's thread (more times than I would like to) that ppl get into W/K/B (one or more of these) and rejected from CBS. My speculation but looking at those people's profiles, CBS do look at your GPA and GMAT more than other schools.

I got questions for those who submitted:

1. How did you do the "how are you gonna pay" section? I mean, I wouldn't know until I do my FAFSA. Is it just my estimate?

2. Have you guys gone to on or off-campus events?

Looking forward to some action in U.S.!!
