Quick question for those admitted:

Did your status on the application website change to "offer of admission" before the phone call or only after? I.e. should I stop obsessively checking the website (my head says YES!)?

and

Is there a particular time of day Mary will call?

I'm trying to forget about my interview and stay extra positive ;)

I got the call first before any email notification...Mary called around 10 am for me...good luck!

why don't we gather in the lobby after the event (maybe give everyone until 1pm to get there) and then head somewhere nearby for a quick lunch?

i cannot stay for a lunch b/c of prior obligations but hopefully will meet some of you by chance at the event!

I too got the call first, at 2:45pm PST on a Friday, and it wasn't from Mary it was another woman named Charlotte. Since she just wanted to let me know of my acceptance before the weekend (which also happened to have a holiday the following monday) I didn't get the official email until this Tuesday. Also, it will still only say "The Admissions Committee has rendered a decision on your application." The application status never indicates what the decision is, you have to click on that link which will open the pop up of your letter.

Good luck!

id love to meet up for a few after the womens event as well. once they send the agenda - it will be easier to coordinate. there is a chance they also do an after hours networking (option) event. they did this for diversity weekend - added more events after agenda was confirmed.

i am up for this too

I just got my invite for the event (after being watlisted for it last week). Count me in!

It looks like it's pretty quiet on the interview invite front for RD applicants. Anyone heard anything? My guess is for those who submitted in late december, invites will start going out in the next 2 weeks.

I am visiting NYC and Columbia next weekend (29th - 31st), and I want to make sure I am getting the most out of the trip. I plan on visiting a class and attending the information meeting on the 31st. I had a couple questions:

1) Are there any other activities I should try to check out while in town? Or people I should try to meet?
2) What kind of dress code is recommended for the class/information meeting?

Thanks!

Dress code for the class is pretty informal, but for the information meeting I'd go with business casual.

If you have a particular area of interest, you could contact a current student and try to arrange a meeting.

I'm submitting my Columbia application no later than Monday (Jan.24). How big of a disadvantage will I be at in relation to those folks who submitted on Jan.5? Does Columbia review and make a decision on every R2 applicant (who submitted by R2 deadline), and then start rolling admissions? Or is it rolling admissions regardless of the date you submit?

I wanted to submit on the 5th, but I had to finish three other applications, and Columbia was just looking real shoddy. I decided to postpone and rework my essays. I have them just about polished, and I'm a lot more confident about them. I just hope I haven't screwed myself over too much.

Columbia does rolling from start to finish, the only disadvantage is that most people probably have submitted by now, so the class will be getting fuller. But there probably aren't that many applicants between Jan.5 and now, except maybe a few others like you who had trouble completing their applications.

I would just add that although a majority of applications are in for regular decision, only a handful of admits have come so far (my impression from gmatclub posts), the rest are at various stages of deliberation. So if your application is competitive, it could still find you a seat in the class.

Anyone applying in Round 2 has the status change yet. I applied on 1/5/2010 and y application status is still "Your application is now being printed and prepared for review". Starting to get concerned.

I just had it change yesterday. Why would you be concerned? No reason to be concerned until you ARE under review, haha. They haven't looked at your stuff yet!

haha. I was just thinking I got a ding without a review. Apologies anxiety overdrive. MBA apps tend to have this effect on people.
