Following the discussions here, it seems like for people who applied in RD December + timeframe, an invite usually goes out 3-3.5 weeks after the UR date. I'm guessing a bunch of invites will start going out mid/late next week.

Had another question. Do any of you notice that activity on the forums - gmatclub/bwforums etc - is way lower than last year. Could this be considered a sign that applications have moderated from the levels seen last year?

For just CBS or bschool in general?

GC seems about average, but the BW forums seem dead. I don't think it has anything to do with application numbers though, I think it has more to do with declining interest in message boards/forums. Remember that website admissions411.com? that used to be pretty popular a few years ago, now it's hardly used.

Just submitted my Columbia app, and only 18 days late  The upside is that I feel like they were my best essays yet, we'll see what happens.

I'm plugging away on my essays still. Hoping to get them out in the next couple of days. Although I'm contemplating if its too late to stand a realistic chance this year, and if I should rather apply in ED next year. Did you think of that option too?
Any stats around people with apps in Jan/Feb getting admits in the past?

You can look at the spreadsheet at the beginning of this thread and see on what dates people submitted their applications so far.

Yeah, I thought about that. However my recommenders already submitted their letters, and I basically filled out the entire app so I figured I should probably just complete it and submit. No idea what the reapplicant acceptance rate is.

I brought up a similar concern a few posts back, and another member said that there probably weren't too many more applicants between Jan.5 and now, which made sense to me.

yeah, that's what I'm hoping too. Not a lot of apps would have gone in after 5th Jan. Read one of the chat transcripts where an adcom member indicated that CBS receives about 70-80% of its overall applications by Jan end. Guess it shouldn't affect the admission rate as such. My thought is that they'd fill seats keeping the 10-12% admit rate in mind, so even if they've recieved 5000 apps by Jan end, they would look to admit about 500-550 out of the 700, knowing they will receive more apps in the next couple of months. (hopefully). As you can see I'm quite the optimist. :)

Actually, the admit rates would probably higher in ED, 15-17% odd if I were to venture a guess. around 8-10 percent for the RD i guess, to keep the overall acceptance at around th 10-12% mark. Jan 5th as a deadline shouldnt change that admit percentage, although it would result in lower seats post that. Anyway, none of this probably matters. I'm just going to go for it.

Good luck! I would also just go for it -- no regrets!

I was there as well. But as I said before , wasn't able to stay after. I was one of the admits so it was super exciting to find out that way! Hopefully I'll meet some of you at admitted students day..... At some point, we might want to exchange real names ;)

Hello ladies,

I left the conference while chatting with another prospective and forgot about the GMAT club meeting :( Josiebella (I assume you were among those who stood up, congrats again) and congratulations Rock Rock, It was great to see you ladies walk up after your names were called out. Rock Rock, can you share your profile please? I certainly hope I meet you ladies sometime in the near future. Fingers crossed fro Columbia.

I also remember one of the adcoms saying they had not received a bulk of their applications yet, so go ahead and apply if you really want to attend CBS, you should be fine.

To those who were dinged, I am so sorry, and wish you the very best with the rest of your aplications.

Still waiting.......

I heard that roughly 80% of the apps are end by the January "deadline" not the end of January. That makes anything post Jan. 5th equivalent to Round 3 at another school so the chances are probably slim.

In terms of reapplicants, according to BW:
Applications (admitted and denied) to the newest class: 6,666
Applicants who were accepted to the most recent class: 15 %
Applicants who were re-applicants from prior years: 10 %
Percentage of this year's reapplicants accepted: 24 %

So 666 reapplicants with roughly 160 accepted. 160/1000 shows a reapplicant acceptance rate in line with regular acceptance.

For those of us who went under review in early january, this week should be when we receive interview invites. I"m anxiously checking my e-mail, totally unfocused at work.

Anybody know if columbia sends their invites at a certain time?

The ED invites seemed to come at arbitrary times, as opposed to say 10AM every morning. Good luck!
