Hi guys - quick question?

When submitting the application, is the unofficial GMAT score sufficient? Or do I also need to send them an official score report by ordering through MBA.com?

Online they say - If admitted, you must submit an official GMAT or GRE score.

I presume they only require the official report to be sent after admission?

i asked the admission this. the answer is - the unofficial score is enough. u don't have to send the reports now. hope it helps.

Does anyone know if the AdCom waits to receive your 2nd GMAT score if you indicate that you are retaking the test? Or do they make decisions whether to interview or not based on what you submit at the time of application? My score is within the 80% range but I know I can raise my quant percentile and want to do it for myself.

I am ready to submit now and want to because of the estimated 3 week turnaround, but am not sure if they'd wait until they received my new test scores, which is after 3 weeks.

thanks for the feedback and any insight from someone who also indicated they would be retaking the test.

if you indicate that you will re-take your GMAT, i think they might wait. But please send the AdCom an email, i think they have better answers than mine.

Hi guys, quick question.

Did anyone here submit application(ED) around 13th Aug, and get response from the adcom?
4 weeks in, and I have not heard back anything. Wondering if anyone is in the same boat.

Thanks!

Pretty much same boat. Submitted 8/16 and nothing.

Getting a little worried, but just trying to distract myself with my other applications.

Trying to get the bulk of mine finished by the end of this week.

Curious to hear how folks tackled some interesting elements of the columbia app:

1. Personal Photo - did you use your typical "suit and tie" photo from work, or did you get a bit more creative?

2. Marital status - I have a pretty serious girlfriend, and I see that they allow you to input "significant other." Did you include details on your boyfriend/girlfriend? Or do you think this is reserved for "married without the title" couples?

Makes sense, although I also see it this way. The only thing CBS needs to do is sent you a form which you sign and then YOU take care of your own background check with Kroll pay them and then send them the confirmation. So basically CBS admissions office don't have much to do in the whole process

But let's hear some more opinons maybe from someone who has already made the deposit!

Thanks a lot for your contribution to GMAT Club

Best
J :)

I've paid my deposits (both initial 6K and 1K final deposit because I'm committed and only applied and got into Columbia so I figured why not pay it all now because nothing will change), and I have not been contacted about a background check. Pretty sure that happens WAY later...

Yes you are right. I'm an admit for ED 2015 matriculation and I have yet to send an official GMAT, only the unofficial PDF. They will give you a checklist later of all the things you need to turn in before starting next fall.

Hey guys

We all hear success stories here in the forum but not so much on failures and I'm about to share one.

Just got dinged (ED)
Gmat 690 (q49)
Gpa 3.7
Age 33
Bb investment bank, casualty of the financial crisis, military service
CFA charter, Chartered Accountancy
Essay was 'very' focused on Columbia (with a help from top consultancy)

Applied 8/13
Dinged 9/9

Well, here it is. This was my first application and it hasn't even been an hour since my ding but I am looking to start that Gmat again.

Hope all of you guys get through and thank you for all the useful posts.

1. I've heard of many people doing either one. I think it's only there to help supplement the application by putting a "face to the name". I personally had a picture of me after a hike up a mountain because I thought it would supplement my application and show more depth in my extracurriculars.

2. I think it's up to you. Some people in our modern society have completely disregarded official marriage titles and are in "common law" marriages. I think in that case you could put significant other. Either way I don't think the particulars on this matter all that much. It might help them understand you and your motivations a little better.

Sorry to hear man. Good luck with the rest of your schools.

I'll PM you to ask about your "top consultancy"

Hi guys! Just got invited to interview today... submitted on Aug 24th. I'm applying for the J-Term. Analyzing the timeline applicants posted here, the vast majority get invited to interview around 15 days after submitting, myself included. I imagine perhaps this lead time will increase further along the process, as more applications flow in.

I will now delve into the interview reports and get ready for the process!

Hi

1 - I used a very typical / traditional photo. I do not think this is the place to get creative :)
2 - I think it's fine if you wanna input "significant other". I didn't know that you needed to include details since I didn't even look at that option (I am single...) in any case, it doesn't matter that much.

hope it helps.
