hey buddy sorry i forgot to mention my background...

re-applicant based in China
three years of strategy consulting experience (not MBB)
GMAT 770; GPA: 3.1 (a top 2 university in China though); majored in management
post-MBA goal: entrepreneurship
strong extracurricular activities (at least i'd like to think so)
Don't know about my recommendation letter (but i think it is great, because i've worked with this person for a long time and he's really nice)
interview went OK. It was very informal, and the interviewer tried to make me relax and tell me it'd be conversational. I walked out of the meeting room not knowing how she thinks of me, but i guess now i know! :)

As for the background check - no i haven't heard anything. i don't think it starts that early. they will probably do it next year

congrats!! quick question about "Application completed", i submitted my application on 08/15, but my recommendation didn't send in until 08/24 so my application was complete on 08/24..... it's not the same thing as your application completed:09/02, is it? i assume yours is after interview?

hey guys, a quick question- i submitted my application on 08/15, but my application wasn't complete until 08/24..when my recommender sent in the recommendation. Should I count my days from 08/15 or 08/24?

short answer: 8/24. they don't start reviewing your app till your recs are in.

you should hear a result (invited to interview or denied) within 6 weeks. Good luck! let me know if anything.

Nope, its not the same. My 09/02 completion is after i sent in some more info they requested before taking a final decision. good luck, the waiting sucks but its worth it in the end... of course

The waiting is definitely the worst part. I think my stress level has spiked since hitting the 2 week mark.

It doesn't help that work is picking up again...

Am on the same boat. Today marks 3 weeks + 1day.
Worrying and thinking about it doesn't change anything, but I can't seem to get my mind off this!

Actually I have heard that the background check starts when you pay the deposit...but no confirmation on this yet...

for business schools to do professional background checks, two things need to happen

1) you need to sign a waiver or something (because most companies are not at liberty to disclose relevant information without your consent)
2) they will outsource these background checks to professional firms, which you will pay

so i don't think it will start after the deposit. considering the large quantity of applications and how many people CBS have in the admission office, their focus during the application season will always be to deliver the results first. background checks can wait.

Makes sense, although I also see it this way. The only thing CBS needs to do is sent you a form which you sign and then YOU take care of your own background check with Kroll pay them and then send them the confirmation. So basically CBS admissions office don't have much to do in the whole process

But let's hear some more opinons maybe from someone who has already made the deposit!

Woah. Already talking about deposits and background checks? I thought this was an applicant thread...

I don't even have an invite yet. I'm dying here as well, but one step at a time?

As long as people have an admit, I think they should be laid back at this point. It's pretty awesome to know where you'll be already when most people are still working on R1 apps.

Interview was very informal. We met in a local Starbucks and he was more interesting in getting to know me better than testing if I have made my due dilligence about the school. Of course he asked me Why Columbia and Why MBA, but that was not the focus. He focused more on my past achievements and career goals. In the end, he told me he would wright a positive assessment and send the school an email recommending me.
I believe that, in general, CBS interviews are very straightforward, but your experience can vary a lot depending on your interviewer.
