I haven't submitted my application yet but have any of you guys tried reaching out to the university for more information on the decision release date? As mentioned earlier, there is a webinar on Monday (20th July) so maybe you can submit your questions on there?

Is CBS allowing August 20 entry admits to defer to Jan 21 entry?

Will J-Term be more competitive this year?

Why would a person take/defer to Jan Intake over the next year sept intake?
The intakes are pretty competitive. Yes, Jan Intake is a bit less competitive but it really doesn't confirm your admission. Usually the admits are from FAM-BIZ or from the Entrepreneurial people who don't want a summer internship.

CBS isnt offering a deferral for next Aug. Maybe some people would want to wait it out till Jan.

Never expected it to confirm admission. I understood it's slightly easier but in the current scenario will more people capitalize on JTerm and make it as competitive as Aug?

I believe that the CBS Website states that the admissions committee aims to respond back about a decision within 6 weeks of the application, so I will send them an email if I have not heard back in 6 weeks.

That being said, does anyone know if the 6 weeks rule still applies now since they must be backlogged from the extended rolling admissions process?

It is actually likely that a lot more people will apply to J term because it just seems sensible to start in Jan in person and get done with the course on time ( also, for those who want it, although it is hard to secure an internship, it is not impossible - for this year specifically). As for the deferral part, as mentioned by Businessconquerer, a lot more people from family businesses/ entrepreneurial backgrounds apply to J term ( because the applicants don't require an internship) so the shift from August 2020 to Jan 2021 seems unlikely. The August 2020 entry admits may just join the J term admits if the current situation persists ( my guess).

The six week timeline that you have mentioned was confirmed in the webinar yesterday.

Same here guys. Nevertheless, it seems they have started reviewing this week (as they closed the Fall term last week), so I expect to start receiving some news next week (for those who reach the 6-week mark).
