Avg gmat score of j-term program is roughly 700. A majority of students are still from either consulting(MBB+T2 sponsors) or a decent finance background(IB/buyside). Even those ppl from family biz tend to have working experiences in professional jobs(consulting or banking) I would suggest you aim a higher score if you are not from a meaningful family biz.

Hey thanks for your reply. What does a meaningful family business mean? and also curious to know why the GMAT Avg is lower for J term even if there are mostly MBB + Buyside people entering the program[/quote

As long as you have an impresive and unique career/story you can try it with below avg score. I've seen an olympic medalist or an incredible personal stoty with even 500 - 600 got in ED and Jterm.

Are you a j termer? Can I ask you what your stats/ profile is? totally understand if you dont want to tell us

I got the email today, 10/23.

White male - 320 GRE - 3 Years in Commercial Real Estate, 2 years as an Entrepreneur

Not the best profile, knew my chances weren't good.

That's a great profile, dont know about the GPA but everything else looks solid for J Term. Why do you think you didnt make it upon the introspection?

My undergrad GPA was 3.5.

I honestly couldn't tell you why.

My entrepreneurial venture was small and didnt make 6-7 figure revenues and my CRE background was with a life insurance co, not an IB.

Second time being rejected by CBS. I'm done applying there.

This year's J-Term has been way more competitive. Heard of many rejections to some traditional consulting (MBB) and IB profiles, who are the typical ideal candidates for the program. I also heard there were many deferrals from Aug entry to Jan, which I assume have made it more competitive

what do you think the acceptance rate for J term is this year? Normally hovers around 40-55%
