Can anyone inform me what the point of applying etc is now given that the $100k H1B fee has redirected the hiring sentiment of many firms to be more domestic rather than international?
Valid question that a lot of people are thinking.
The short answer is Hope.
The long answer is more complicated:
1. First of all, the whole application process is very unpredictable and may not work out so what’s another bump in the road, many people look at it sequential and they worry about problems when they face them. For example, many people apply even though they have no clue where they’re gonna get the money to go to school assuming that they’ll figure it out and work it out. This is a little bit different but basically put your head in the sand approach.
2. There’s no guarantee this policy for H1B will stick.
3. This is class of 2028, which will be applying for H1B in 2029, after the current administration is already gone, this increasing speculation that even if this policy sticks, it will be modified or repealed in the future years.
4. There’s still a lot of time and that allows for other solutions to emerge.
5. Hoping for a scholarship 🤪
6. A number of people who come in for family business as well as sponsored candidates.
