Just had someone anonymously call admissions. Conversation:

"Are you guys making calls for Round 2 admission today?"
"Ohhhhhh maybe."
"Maybe?"
"Yup."

They weren't budging.

Well its already 12:25 PM EST. The admissions office closes at 4:00 PM EST. No admits reported so far today.

The Johnson school community places a lot of value on respecting people. It is very likely that the adcom might not have started calling admits on Friday with the intention of spreading these calls over Friday and Monday. In my experience, the johnson adcom is very sensitive to people's feelings and they know the anxiety that spreading the calls over the weekend may cause to people. I am being led to believe that most if not all calls have gone out on friday.

people who might get calls today should consider themselves very lucky esp if this is their first admit of the season.

tommorrow 9 AM EST results will be out. That will mean that a waitlist can be the best result that one could realistically hope for.

I think it's a bit premature to make this call. I would expect to hear something after the 1pm lunch break. Why would the admissions office give a response like "maybe" if they were already done making calls? That certainly doesn't fit with their image of respecting people's feelings.

I doubt that's the case, simply judging by the usual strength of gmatclub candidates. There was only two admit reported out of 15 interviews on the roll call (Dhanur got an invite; he must not have updated). I'm not counting those not on the roll call, but there were still only a couple. Also, calls were reported at non-admissions hours in the last round. I'm not giving up hope - for any of us!

I did not receive a call, and I got in. Settle down, (yeah I know it's hard), but there are many good reasons why you could not have gotten a call yet. Cat ate the call list, you were skipped b/c your number is too hard to remember, etc...

How has only one guy (from China) between here and BusinessWeek got the call?!?

When Tuck had its day of calling admitted students two weeks ago, these boards were lighting up like Christmas trees (one would think the sample sizes of Tuck and Cornell applicants on here would be roughly the same).

Eerily silent cornell threads in different forums.

Guess I will have to go thru the heart stopping process of looking at the result from the application website tomorrow morning.

My mind says that no news is coming today. But my heart hopes for that miracle call from Johnson. Guess this is what a bunch of rejections and the expectation of that elusive first admit does to you.

Not to fuel any fires here, hopefully to the contrary, but...

Can you imagine the historic application conditions that the Johnson school would have had to receive if this radio silence across BW and GMAT Club really does represent dings? It could only mean a handful of scenarios:

1) Round 1 was amazing for them and they got 90% of what they wanted from it (doubtful given that we see the fairly average numbers accepted and rejected)

2) Round 2 was dismally small and of average strength while their incoming round 3 apps are voluminous and exceptional, landing all of us on the waitlist or worse.

3) Round 2 was so massive that BW and GMAT Club only cover an insignificant fraction of the applicant pool. The 3 admits we have gotten wind of are the whole lot of applicants to be accepted that post between the 2 forums.

All three of these scenarios seem outlandish to me, which gives me hope.

Now for some even more outlandish theories...

1) Randall has decided to take the day off and polish off his mounting stock of Guinness.
2) The entire admissions staff has been overrun and devoured by feral cats.
3) Chippendale's has acquired rights to the operations and trademarks of Cornell's graduate school of business. They plan to leverage the Johnson name to attract world class male dancer's to their employ. It will henceforth be known as "The School for Johnsons".

I think I've lost it....
