they really want those guys from Charlotte or Atlanta, or have gone to those southeast schools. i could be wrong but this is what i have been dealing with
I went to Emory for undergrad.

What I’ve heard is that when you interview you need to have a real reason for wanting that (ie personal connection to the place). They don’t want people trying to come in to then try and transfer to NYC.

if u really want to work in the southeast why not just stay and go to Emory or UNC, they do very very well in the southeast

my buddy who is canadian who went to one of those schools landed 7 offers between NYC and Southeast banks from UNC. he crushed it

he also had an amazing background (20B+ AUM private equity Associate)

FWIW too, I’m fine leaving banking for a non banking role after 2 years etc.

I applied to Emory and UNC. Got into Darden EA. Darden and Cornell would be top choices due to placement and prestige, but certainly not opposed to Emory or even Vanderbilt if they came in with money.

KF is still under consideration but ranking drop has me worried. But does place in Charlotte yes. Also applied to Duke

Also I know we argued re breaking into banking before but feels like we’re maybe relating to each other more, perhaps just a communication issue before 🤝

Long term would be great but otherwise fine being in NYC for a bit

No $ unfortunately

But may be worth it.

FWIW yield at Emory and Vandy is low too due to low competition, they are known for consulting (esp Emory)

yeah i was only trying to be objective. I had to grind to break in and it was hell man. I went to a target undergrad too and had to grind to break in after graduation.

i would go to darden over cornell. There is one thing that turns me off about cornell and its the process. its way too long and cumbersome. Maybe for a pivoter it fcan help but the yield for placing is not as great since half the school wants to do banking

And I’m not saying it will be some easy world for me or any career switcher! It will be a grind. And, likely won’t get into some amazing elite boutique. But eg from Johnson I’ve seen pivoters land at Barclays, Wells Fargo, truist etc

Yeah just want to see what happens. OE def hand holds through the process and that is nice for someone pivoting

Like it is very very structured is what I mean

But even with AI, even with the market, I have been told that for domestic students— if you study and network and go through the process properly you will not completely strike out.

My downside is completely striking out.
