Well guys, for those of you curious how scholarship negotiations go, Darden gave $20K to Johnson’s $90K. I think that’s where the story ends.
I just got off the phone with my friend from Jefferies who’s given me enough info to say that Cornell’s IB process is very annoying. Id really take darden

There are lots of rules in OE but if you can’t be bothered to write 50 cal invites and have them all set to send at 8:30 AM, you shouldn’t be in IB.

Yeah that’s how it be man. It’s not for everyone but I can deal yeah. There’s a handbook and everything to go about recruiting— that structure chafes at some and helps ground others. Different strokes for different folks that’s all

your attitude is going to get you to strike out entirely. As someone who is in the job, you better fix that attitude or else no technicals wills save you.

I said something entirely reasonable? The rules may be grounding for some, and overly particular for others. There’s nothing wrong with that.

The only thing I have heard from folks who have recruited IB at Johnson is that the structure generates a ton of professionalism and readiness for the job. So, I’m fine to go through the process.

Your ‘you shouldn’t be in IB if you can’t send 50 emails’ comment was condescending and completely misrepresented what I was saying.

And realistically, talking like that when you’re not in the industry yet is a fast way to get humbled. IB doesn’t reward hardo energy, it rewards professionalism, and knowing when to read the room.

If you’re serious about healthcare IB, be mindful of your tone. People pick up on attitude much faster than they pick up on technical ability, and the wrong tone will get you dismissed before you ever get a chance to show what you know.

Being ‘right’ doesn’t justify talking down to people especially when you haven’t worked a day in the industry and don’t yet know what the actual process looks like.

Kinda just paraphrased what someone from Johnson told me yesterday in a call. A bunch of people dropped up of the process because it wasn’t for them. Nothing wrong with that.

I’m not going to rip you anymore because you’re new and curious about the job, but let me clarify something. Sending 50 coffee chat emails is the bare minimum at any school let alone the job itself, that wasn’t the issue.

My point was that the recruiting rules are restrictive in specific ways, and you reframed it without asking me what those specific ways were as ‘if you can’t handle sending 50 emails it’s not for you,’ which completely missed what I was actually saying.

I’d go back and re-read your original comment. The way you phrased it comes off as condescending, and that kind of tone rubs people the wrong way fast. It’s worth getting a second pair of eyes on how you come across, especially before recruiting. I’ve seen some of your Reddit comments too — the unintentional hardo vibe shows up there as well, and that kind of energy can hurt you more than you think. No one in the job acts this way.
