I have a question—can someone help me? If the Round 2 deadline is January 7 (for example), but I submit my application in November 2025, will interviews and decisions only be made after the January 7 deadline, or could I receive an interview and even an admission offer before the Round 2 deadline?

In that sense, there’s no real benefit to submitting my application very early (once Round 1 has already passed). It’s better to take advantage of the extra time and submit it closer to the deadline.

I got Cornell interview invite like basically around when they opened and I applied pretty early in mid August

I got Yale and Vandy interviews super early too after applying early

If you have a strong application just apply regardless of early or not

Early bird i understand
But for R2, do they even start evaluating the application before deadline?

When I visited UNC they said they were evaluating before the deadline

And then for context I got an interview invite the day after the deadline to apply for R1

No I mean like as soon as interview invites rolled out, I was one of the first

Also have to imagine some folks here are interested in IB so this post gives a good overview of the process— helping it get surfaced: https://www.reddit.com/r/MBA/comments/l ... uiting_at/

I’ve been doing a ton of coffee chats with folks over the last week for obvious reasons and the above is pretty much how it still works. The overarching advice is: if you commit to the process and do the work + follow the structure of OE, you’ll likely be fine.

Very interesting point from the post that you can’t hoard offers— that is still true. The goal is to maximize placement across the street. They call it a “One Johnson” mentality.

Fwiw I have heard this process interchangeably described as “pledging a fraternity” and “joining the military”. You get close with everyone recruiting.

Great post man, thanks for sharing! I also liked this comment from OP:

"As every banker will say, technical proficiency is a "check the box". Johnson gives every IB candidate enough resources to "check the box" with every firm. At the end of the day, it comes down to cultural fit, being someone that bankers want to work with, and demonstrating interest in the career path."

Would be surprised if anything comes out now. Did the live wire show any action yesterday?

Feel like it’ll all come out next week

I think so too. I mean its such a tight turnaround. Cornell interviews all the way up to the 25th of November, and then they release decisions on a rolling basis up until the 5th of December.

Livewire only shows 3 people

and then adjust for others who didnt post so many like 4-5 more

Theyll run calls today and tomorrow

and then the rest role out next week
