Wish we all make it to Darden. Form a group of waitlisters and perform better than straight accceptances. Before graduation, make appearance before admission committee members and tell them why Sarah, Katherine, Arielle? Why?

If they claimed to have narrowed down the waitlist, it doesn't make any sense that no one has reported to have been rejected off the WL. Are they messing with you guys?

I think they have not yet narrowed down the waitlist. They are in the process of doing so.

Yeah, I find that suspicious...

But then if they haven't narrowed down the list yet, why did their e-mail say that they have. And shouldn't they already know who accepted the offer and who didn't, based on all the fees deadlines that have now passed?

Before narrowing down the list, I guess they wanted to know if anybody is not interested to stay on the list.

My guess is that adcom sent this email to everyone on the waitlist to ensure that they have clean list. That is, they want to increase their chances that everyone who is offered admission, at this point, accepts. Every offer that Darden makes increases their acceptance rate. If this rate gets too high then it will negatively impact their rankings. Narrowing their list first starts with them getting rid of applicants who no longer wish to be on it.

What do you mean "if the rate gets too high then it will negatively impact their rankings"? Don't schools want higher yield? Or did you mean something else.

I guess that he meant "if this rate gets too low".

Got the call few hours ago – I was accepted off the waitlist! I’m really excited and happy. I hope that more WL’ers will hear good news soon!

Good luck everyone!

Question to the newly admits - how much time do they give you to make a decision? When are the deposits due?
