Tests not a test
What exactly would you like to know about it?
There are 3 - Math, Accounting and Excel. There's a module for each before the exam.
Am I going to be placed in remedial classes based on my test scores?
Or are these used for other purposes...like assigning learning teams and recommending pre-matriculation courses?
There's no such thing as remedial classes at Darden. Everyone takes the same courses throughout the first-year (well, 95% of it). You have the option of taking what's called "pre-matriculation courses" to brush your memory, but other than that, everyone starts with the same courses.
The pre-matriculation modules and some tests are just to make sure that you have enough "juice" after working in the corporate environment. They're not used to assign LT, but you should use the test score to gauge whether you should take the pre-matriculation courses. For example, if you barely pass the accounting exam (and that during the exam you had to go back several times to the module to look up information), it's probably a good sign that you may benefit from the pre-matriculation course (this is just an example; your test score is not directly indicative of a course, but just use your best judgment). You will not be penalized by barely passing the exam and forgoing the opportunity to take the pre-matriculation course.
DardenFY, correct me if I'm wrong cuz my memory is a bit vague on this topic now.
This time you are correct
I think it's a great advice to use judgment - I got a high score on the accounting exam but still took the pre-matriculation accounting course cause didn't know much about it. And I'm glad I took that course. Those exams or their scores are not used for anything later on, you just need to pass a certain threshold (between 70%-80% if I'm not mistaken). And if you don't pass, you can retake. BTW, everyone has to take them, it doesn't matter what your major was and what your background is. Just making sure everyone has the same basic knowledge once the year kicks in. And don't worry, people will start talking about it on the FB group and elaborate on their experience (how much time each module takes/each exam etc.).
I'd just say we have 5 terms in the FY and one of them is electives so I don't know about the 95% assumption of everyone taking the same courses (bakfed, didn't let you off the hook eventually

Thanks guys. Very helpful info. One more question - does Darden do a background check and if so, what do they verify? Trying to hold off on telling my boss I am leaving until May, and don't want him to get a call from Darden out of the blue.
Posted from my mobile device Last year they did not, if I'm not mistaken. However, this policy might change - some schools change it every year. Anyway I assume that they wouldn't run a background check without letting you know first!
