I'm applying in R2 but I elected to interview in October during self initiated interview stage. What do you all think about changing (quite drastically) career goals from what I mentioned during my interview? Basically the changing finance landscape has made me realize a switch to finance isn't smart and that I should continue in operations or look at a transition to consulting. Thanks!
I think you should stick with your previous story as long it sounds reasonable and achievable. As you probably know a lot of people choose to pursue paths/concentrations after acceptance that they have not even mentioned in the essays . If the interview report includes career path details which contradict your essays, it would potentially raise a red flag in my opinion.
I agree, usually there is always a comparison run between what you said in your interview and what one writes in the essays. Stick to your story its not that you have to defend it anywhere... your interview is already done. Plus Duke has a strong Finance concentration you can find good resources to provide reasoning for why Duke is the best school for you.
