In for R1!

Have my interview scheduled for 10/3! Looking forward to visiting and meeting folks there! Fuqua Friday should be an interesting thing too!

Anyone else visiting around that time? Would love to meet up!

Also, any current students willing to help out? Don't want to get lost. :D

I thought you had to wait for the application to go live to book your interview date. Thanks for posting this and giving the heads up that you can book interview dates separately. I just booked mine for the week after and was able to save some serious money by booking so far in advance. Props to you, anupamgupta2112!

The questions in the letter of recommendations have changed. When I spoke to my recommenders, I had used these questions during the discussion: https://www.fuqua.duke.edu/daytime-mba/a ... tructions/

I am told that the questions in the online form are different.

Hi, I applied in 2013 for Daytime MBA program and I am reapplying with in a year. Recommendation instructions for Reapplicant says that I need to submit only one recommendation but the system is not allowing me to submit me the final application and asking me the name of second recommender. Does anyone else facing the same issue?

Apps sometimes have minor glitches. They get resolved as people point them out. I would recommend contacting application-processing@fuqua.duke.edu and letting them know about your situation.

Does this mean that Fuqua is flexi with deadlines for EA?
I am not planning EA due to that commitment issue. But it seems weird that they'd shift their deadlines. :?

like many others have mentioned this is just standard email sent to all EA applicants to confirm they understand the binding nature of Early Action. although i don't understand why they don't call it early decision like CBS since its clearly binding while Tuck's Early Action is NOT binding. so i guess Duke just doesn't want to confuse any ppl, especially the international crowd with whom eng might not be their first language..

that said, i highly doubt Duke adcom are swamped. I just chatted with one yesterday and he confirmed they receive on avg around 10% of applicants during EA round and then around 40 / 40 split for Round 1 and R2 and final 10% in R3. Thus, they are just making sure that ppl understand the binding nature of EA. if you can interview on campus during open period absolutely do it! def don't take chance with waiting for invite. unfortunately thats not an option for those of us who live far away from durham! best of luck to everyone!

razordude1717 - has there been any development on your transcript issue? would be good to know about updates.

Sorry for the late reply neo656 (the end of application season is really getting to me!). They were very prompt in their reply. They apologized for the confusion and said that for my particular University, they would like to receive a copy of the degree too. As soon as I got the mail, I replied back with the needful, and within 20 mins, they replied saying that my application is complete. They changed the status too almost immediately. Left a good impression on me in the end :).

To the rest, ALL THE BEST for tomorrow! :D

Sorry to interrupt the EA excitement folks. But, I have a question here regarding recommendations.

One of my recommenders has started working on the recommendation for Duke. He says that some of the questions are similar to Ross (I too checked - actually one is same and another is very similar). He said that he is going to use the same answers to the questions for Duke. Will this be OK? I am not very comfortable asking him to write it again (plus, I too feel that I am the same person and his views won't change just because the University has changed).

Any views on this? Perhaps some of the EA folks, since you might have already gone thru this :-D (in reverse order though, Duke questions repeated for Ross)?

Come to think of it. My other recommender has already submitted his recommendation and I didn't get a peep out of him regarding this!!!!Hmmm... suspicious :stupid !!! (I have a strong feeling that he has already repeated his answers).

Shouldn't be a problem I guess. Just make sure you ask the recommender to change the school name if he/she has used it at all. :P

The whole point of all the schools asking the same questions for LOR is to save the effort of the recommenders. So I would say its perfectly fine to use the same letter.

does anyone know how soon they expect you to interview off site and when the last date for interviews are? since the admit date of Oct 29th is awfully close i assume they want to wrap up interviews asap in order to give adcom enough time to process all the interview reports. any insight would be much appreciated.

fyi, i was R2 applicant last year who was invited to interview and then WL till the end of summer.. really hoping for that glimmer of hope earlier this year. but def determined to get a spot this time around!

Congrats guys! Nail the interview...

Duke doesn't do Adcom interviews period. On campus, it's second year MBA students. I assume the alumni will be similar to that - some mandatory questions (strengths, weaknesses, why MBA, why fuqua) and the rest conversational.

unfortunately i got assigned to adcom for skype interview.. not super thrilled about that. was hoping to get face to face interview with alumni. not sure if there simple wasn't enough space in my designated interview city or because i am a reapplicant who interviewed on campus before?

can anyone who has done an adcom interview chime in?? would love to get some feedback on how to approach this interview as it definitely wasn't what i expected initially. thanks!

Don't worry much, adcom guy isn't gonna eat you for lunch.
Regardless, you may make an effort to reach out to them and inform that you are willing to travel a bit and meet their representative face to face for the interview. Trust, a little expenditure (little b'coz you won't be travelling to Durham, duh!) and time might go a long way towards your success.
Cheers for the interview call... and all the best..

Btw.. just noticed... you're from Singapore!

I'm writing on Fuqua principles... but trying real hard to not pull my hair...

Talk to some people at Fuqua , and if you are really a fit into the collaborative culture , you will see it immediately . It happened to me this way :)

Hey, regarding the open interviews , is there any option for international students? Do they provide options like interviewing with an alumni in the region?

i) Yup, international candidates may schedule on-campus interview during the open interview window.
ii) Yup for interview on invitation. Nope for open interview.
