Does it benefit to widthdraw application at this point?
Even I had this question.

I am absolutely unsure but someone had mentioned that it helps in visa as in reduces your rejection rate as per interview invites/number if applications, but heard this is untrue as well.

Guys, I’m in a weird situation and need your help. I had a horrible interview experience. My interviewer was an Indian+very senior alumni (grad of 2007). I knew the moment I got his profile that this could be the most difficult interview I will ever have.
He rescheduled the interview 3 times and finalised the time only 3 hours before the interview. I’m not sure what adcom will make of this. Anyways, interview started, and this guy seemed pissed off about everything. He kept challenging almost every sentence I said. He started by saying why I don’t want to be in sustainability (dude I spent 7 years in sustainability only to be told this). Next he said why coming back to India to start my own firm is a bad bad idea. Next he kept complaining about how Adanis are looting the country and how Modi is favoring only the big business leaving others to starve (this guy was running his own firm). He had a horrible connection and we shifted platform from teams to gmeet to WhatsApp eventually. He ended by suggesting me to explore technical courses instead and didn’t even allow me to counter.

Sorry for the long rant. I had so much expectations from this interview, Fuqua is my top choice school and it is pretty much all I have in R2. Should I reach out to adcom trying to explain my situation? Please suggest something.

So sorry to hear that. I think I would definitely connect with adcom 1:1 & ask for another interview specially if this was my dream program.

Please go through this video. I think the first 25 to 30 mins. There are suggestions to adress a bad interview experience. But also, sometimes they contradict and challenge you because they want to test your technical depth, but if at any point you felt that the interviewer went personal you can definitely reach out and let them know politely
Point

Also guys some of this sympathy feels conveniently performative- especially when it comes from people who already got interviews themselves but are pretending that they didn’t get any. So please use common sense about whose words you take seriously. Check whether the source is actually legitimate in the context of admissions decisions and don’t get distracted by candy-coated posturing. 🍬

Well that is definitely something you should communicate to the Adcom. I’d suggest requesting for a 1:1 asap, before they use your feedback to make a decision. Also speak to Admissions ambassador from current cohort and get their opinion on how to position this.
Definitely talk about the political comments.

Fuqua community will really help here.
Just explain it well without targeting the individual outrightly and request for another interview, possibly with an AdCom member this time

I’m happy to connect with with few folks from Fuqua who helped me and can guide best on how to address this with Adcom. Please feel free to dm!

Would you be willing to disclose who this individual was? Seems very unprofessional and lacked objectivity
Hi. I’m sorry that would probably not be a great idea. Hope you understand why.

Thanks. I’m thinking of doing the same but I’m worried that it could backfire. Might look like I’m trying to throw someone under the bus for my sake

Reminded me of my interview. Co-incidentally the stats somehow match too, 2007 grad + Indian.

Totally understandable! But they would also accommodate I feel.
Plus MBA experience will also be about making difficult choices and standing up for what you think is right for your own sake!
As long as you’re respectful in your email, shouldn’t be a problem.

I am not an expert. Can’t really say whether you should speak to adcom or not. However, if you decide, then I think and I emphasise on I THINK part, would be to say something like, - SUBJECTIVE differences over political aspects. You could also mention about different opinions over a certain politician. Or something, like SUBJECTIVE DISCUSSION WHICH I THINK THE INTERVIEW MIGHT NOT AGREE WITH THE OPINIONATED POSITION. I think would be the right way.

However. This is MY OPINION and I am an applicant just like you. I have no expertise in B-Schools. I am a journalist so I know a little about how to make better use of words on conflicting topics.

PLEASE USE YOUR BEST JUDGEMENT. Everybody has opinions, so do I. It’s your application and you should be the one making a call with your feeling based on EXPERT OPINIONS.
