Wow guys !! reading your posts, I have exactly no idea why I have been shortlisted. My GMAT score is 590, my IELTS 8, and my GPA is 2.7/4. I admit I spent a lot of time on my SOP and essays. I'm waiting for my interview. Fingers crossed lets see what happens next.

i have just applied in round 4.. i am from india.. have a 680 gmat and 8.3 gpa from a top 10 school in india.. have done an aiesec internship in china.. plenty of leadership roles and extra curriculars in college with measurable results.. i have also worked for more than a year in mexico city as a business analyst.. have volunteered with a couple of ngos.. know spanish... i have highlighted the skills essec needs in my SOP.. however my essay has many redundant points from my SOP..will this hamper my chances..

I've been accepted !! I got the results yesterday. The interview was smooth and friendly. I figured what had attracted them was my work experience(about 3 years part time in a managerial postion), My volunteer work(About 3 years at an organization helping children suffering from cancer), and The fact that I was a teaching assistant in 3 different courses. I hope you guys get admitted as well. I'm here if you have any inquiries about anything.

congrats!!! :-D 3 years of volunteer experience is impressive as well! You've devoted a lot of the time in many activities!

Do you know is there any one in your country has been admitted too?
I'm wondering do they have a quota for each country. Hope I can get in too!! Dream school!

No. When you get admitted , You will be joined to a Facebook group where you can see all of the admitted students. I did not see anyone accepted from IRAN. There a lot of Chinese and Indian people and the rest are from all over the world. "I'm wondering do they have a quota for each country? " Well i have absolutely no idea. However, Indians and Chinese seem to find their way in more easily than others, Maybe because of their population. Hopefully You'll get in ! It's not as hard as You think. I suggest you apply for their apprenticeship program if your CV is top notch.

well I would have applied for a better school if I were you. I am not saying that Essec is Not good or anything. just trying to say that do not underestimate yourself. You have somehow every major and minor thing that every business school is looking for. Thus, In my opinion, Either apply for an apprenticeship program or some kind of a scholarship at Essec or Apply for HEC or INSEAD or LBS .. if you want to pay your tuition yourself.

Same story with me. Where is your interview? Mine is in the Cergy campus in France.

Any input would be indeed very helpful.

Hi I just had my interview at the Singapore campus ytd. Not sure how it will turn out but I would say that the whole experience was nice. The panel consists of 2 professeurs and they seem very friendly. One of them asked rather specific questions regarding my CV while the other ask obvious questions like why Essec etc. I guess it was usually about 30 minutes long but mine should be a little less than bc I felt it was so quick!
I think the best way to prepare is to know your CV inside out. For example, I was working in Fashion industry in 2 different roles so they ask why and how I changed, what motivates me, what I have learned during both jobs, tell us about your teamwork experience. For me they asked a lot about why I want to work in fashion because many students express their desire to pursue their career in this field so they want to make sure that the student doesnt want to do it just because the glamorous side of the industry.
Also the questions you will surely be asked that you could prepare beforehand are 1.Tell me about yourself 2. Why Essec? 3. Why business degree ? 4. What are your plans after graduate? 5. What could you bring to Essec, how would you contribute ? 6. Are you applying to other school? If you can't get in what's your backup plan? 7.Any question for them (I asked about the apprenticeship alternatives for non EU in Singapore and Jobs prospect for Asian students in Europe particularly in my field of interest)
Lastly, read their websites! I was asked whether I know the selection process of the LVMH chaire and how I will prepare for this competitive chaire. So if you mention somewhere in your application about any chaire or track, make sure you really know it well.
Hope you guys find it useful :)

Hey,

I have been looking at pursuing MBA- Luxury Brand Management at ESSEC. However It would be of great help to know more about the school & the course before I go ahead.

1. Are they very particular about the work experience at ESSEC? I have 3 years full time work ex. Also my work ex is not in the relevant sector, would that be a problem?
2. Does ESSEC have good job placements? Would they necessarily be in Paris or do they have recruiters coming from all over?
3. I have a GMAT score of 660, Q-50 V-30. Would this be considered good enough?

Really appreciate some help out here. Thank you! :D
