anyone *not* from boston get an invite today? Also, does anyone know if MIT has a few waves or if its pretty much over in a day or two like hbs

My understanding is that they do it in waves depending on where you will be interviewing. That is, they'll do Boston, NYC, LA, etc., all in waves. I could be all kinds of mistaken on this though . . .

One thing is fore sure: if you get an interview from MIT you are in tremendous shape. The odds of admittance after an interview is much higher than most schools.

Anyone know how frequent the "waves" are? Damn, I'm starting to get nervous.

BTW, I just found this message board. RD1 Sloan.

From BW, the nice stat is that although they only interview 18% of the applicants, the admit 14% overall.

So if you get an interview, you have almost 80% chance of getting accepted. All 4 interviewed last year got accepted.

So, maybe I missed something here, but how exactly do interviews work as far as where they are conducted? I see people on here with Boston or NYC invites; are there certain hub cities that they visit, with everyone else asked to visit Boston?

This is only from what they say in BW, but from what I gather, MIT is different from other schools in that the ADCOM travel to these hubs and interview. Because of this they do interview invite by region.

GoBruins, that is exactly right. MIT is different in two ways: 1) Interviews are not blind like they are in Chicago or Wharton (I don't know which other schools do blind interviews) 2) The adcom itself interviews every applicant invited. So there are hub cities around the US and the world where they travel.

Anyone know what the "hub" cities are?

ROLL CALL PAGE UPDATED
I separated the people who were added to the list after invites started rolling out, to differentiate those who added themselves at the beginning and those who waited to get an invite to add themselves.

I went ahead and changed to GoBruins style. * for people added after invites go out, and ** for people after final decisions.

The reason why it's useful to separate them is for more accurate statistics. A lot of people will lurk and not add themselves until after receiving a positive outcome, so a disproportionate amount of people reporting after deadlines will be invited/accepted.
