Julie: Another related question regarding the content of the cover letter: Apart from illustrating few of my significant accomplishments, what else would you expect us to cover? Just wanted to know if you are specifically expecting to see any of the following in the cover letter. A) How I can contribute to MIT community? B) Short term and Long term Career goals C) Why MBA? D) Why MIT? (FIT w/ career goals and learning style etc). Any advice in this regard will be helpful.

Suresh, we're most interested in the impact which will probably relate to your work. The cover letter is your marketing piece. It is the first thing that we will read. There is a word limit of 500 words so you will want to organize it in a way to
let us know your goals and how they relate to what MIT might offer, but don't spend time telling us about individual classes.
Obviously, this pertains to last year's app. Does someone have the 2008 cover letter prompt? I find all these statements from the adcom quite contradictory and confusing.
