What do you think happens if school number one gives a student a fellowship but school number two gives full tuition too because they really want that student? If the student goes to school number two do you think they would still be allowed to attend consortium events or do you forfeit consortium rights....even though school 2 is a consortium member? I like to dream big....ha ha

I think you'd be okay as long as you attended a consortium school and were granted consortium membership. If they allow schools to offer students non-consortium scholarships (and in some cases membership w/ no fellowship at all) I don't see why they'd hold it against you

Got an e-mail from NYU saying they updated my status

Status= WL

How difficult is it to get off the waitlist? What perentage of ppl get off the WL, anyone know?

Does anyone else have this sinking feeling that they might have had a better chance at Yale if they had applied via normal application? Less than 24 hours until decision time, so not like it matters anymore, ugh

Wow, sorry to hear that gotchocolate. That's a tough place to be in, but at least you still have a chance. Were you R2? Did you interview? When did you get the email?

They say chances are equal. The funny thing is that the Consortium picture had about 12-14 people from Yale. The URM percentage for the Class of 2012 was 7%. The class size is what, 220? So, there are about 15-16 URMS in the Class of 2012. Don't know what this means in terms of timing but it seems most of the URMs are coming from the Consortium.

I don't remember the composition but I guess most people in the picture were URMs. I could be mistaken. I had the picture made into a poster which hangs above my bed so I'll check when I get home.

I hope that if I get an acceptance call tomorrow that it won't be from a blocked number. I'd hate for it to be one of the 10 or so creditors that are after me.

Ya exactly...and how many people apply to Yale via consortium? 300-500 out of the 1000 total consortium applicants? No way of knowing, but 15 (or maybe 20 to adjust for yield)/300-500 is brutal

Yeah you are probably right. So the acceptance rate has to be lower than 15% for URMs.

Choosing school 2 in this case would have no bearing on your status as a CGSM member. You would still get to go to OP, participate in CGSM events during the year, etc.

I was admitted to MIT off the WL last year, but it was a lot of work. Visit campus, meet current students, send periodic updates via email, join local clubs by your home that relate to the school, meet adcom reps, do their ambassadors program with a campus visit, be original and genuine with your expression of interest in going there.....start a campaign for yourself. You can do it! Show them you love them. That's they key.

does anyone else wonder how the ____ Torres from Grey's Anatomy landed a role on the show. She's not hot and she's fat. I think the show made her character pregnant to account for Torres' chunkiness. Friends in high places?
