Just received a "no thanks" from Stern (via e-mail update). I ranked them 4th out of 6th--from what I've learned on this forum, they're fairly sensitive to a "low" ranking, so....

Fingers crossed for positive results from the other programs and best wishes to those who ranked Stern higher on their lists :)

R1 I presume

I received the same no thanks email from Stern tonight. I ranked them 3rd out of 6. I applied R1. I haven't heard from any other schools except a interview invite at Haas. Good luck to everyone!

I know it's late now but how did you guys handle rankings. Did you go by dream school and work your way down or did you start with most likely to get accepted and then work down?

I regret my rankings. Oh well.

I ranked stern 2 and ross 3, however I would like to go to ross much more than stern. I knew, however, that Ross hides my rankings during eval and Stern looks at them and is sensitive about it.

Agreed. Both Cornell and Stern are the schools known for being most sensitive to the rankings. Also, few schools decide NOT to look at the ranking before admittance I've heard.

R1 and R2 Ross Consortium are bundled together this year. Interviews should be rolling out in the next week or so (per the emails from the adcomm). See earlier posts in this thread about Ross.

rlstern00, major congrats on your Berkeley interview invite! And good to know that they’re going out; I had read that Haas would be extending rolling interview invites from early January through the end of February, but hadn’t heard if the process was underway.

Thanks DC, check out the Haas page for interview updates. I was invited to interview at Super Saturday on Feb 5th. It is not clear why some people get asked to come to SS and others for an interview locally. Best of luck!

No, just an email. Actually stern was the only school who sent me login information.

DC:

I'm sorry to hear about Stern. We have had at least one waitlist (on the page.) I'm curious to know he ranked Stern. If they were ranked low on his list as well, it would certainly call into question all the chatter about their ranking sensitivity. You only need one, and it is highly unlikely that your third choice will offer you the fellowship anyway. Here's to good news from your #1 and #2.

From what I understand, unless they state otherwise--I know that Ross falls into this category--schools can see the rankings. Which makes the ranking process extremely stressful since you don't want to insult any of the programs.

While I would've loved to interview at all of the schools that I applied to, sadly, it's been a hectic year in my industry and I had only one opportunity to take time off from work. I did my Consortium interview at Ross.

And I'd like to second the positive things that have been said about Ross. Perhaps as a native midwesterner (based in not-so-friendly Washington) I am biased, but I received a good vibe from Ross and the folks I encountered there. I have also appreciated their efforts to keep applicants "in the loop." They are the only school of the six I applied to that have sent out regular correspondence/updates/time-lines. A small gesture, but a nice one.

Again, good luck to all as the news starts rolling in! I hope to join the Consortium ranks and am holding out hope for my other five applications...

Yes, current Consortium students and alumni consistently stressed the importance of a ranking strategy. My strategy was to rank the school I felt most strongly about #1, and let the others fall. I knew that if I didn't rank Stern #1, I wouldn't receive a fellowship from them. Since they weren't my #1, I ranked them last (#4) in hopes that my candidacy might be strong enough to compell invite, plus a non-Consortium scholarship.

Ross gets a 'Maize Star' for its communication with prospectives. I have written to Jon Fuller at least 4 times since submitting my app. He responds immediately. When he says that he is 'dedicated' to the Consortium, I believe it.

My ranking strategy: I ranked the school with the best program, teachers and company recruiters for my future concentration as number 1. So basically the school that fit me the best and also where I suspected hopefully that the feeling was mutual during my visit...so that hopefully they would accept me AND also have me on THEIR fellowship list...crossing my fingers, toes, and lighting a candle.

So, am I the only one quasi-obsessing about the fellowship situation?

So this is my ranking.....#1 Tuck, #2 Yale, #3 Stern.

My question is, do you think the #3 school feels better about there position (in terms of admissions) if they are 3/3 or 3/6? What are the implications of having more or less schools on your list.

Fellowship is obviously important, but honestly...just getting in my priority....everything else is just gravy.

No, we are all obsessed about the fellowship---But until we see interviews and admission offers rolling in, we all pretend the fellowship is less important than being offer an admission or interview. This is my first post, but trust me, I have been following the Consortium thread from its inception with passion and nervousness.

I wonder about this as well. I have 1. UT 2. Ross. In retrospect the two should have been reversed as I really want the Ross accept and fellowship.

I don't think it matters. I hear Stern pretty much has to be 1 or 2 or else ding..but that's talk you hear on this forum..in reality, I don't know.
