Hi, I am a international applicant too. I guess that is the statement where we show the finances, as far i think it is not a mandatory document for application (it's not there in the checklist), I am submitting my application today and will tell you if i got the same MSG.

I would call the admissions to get confirmation.

Hi,

I just submitted my app for R1! I am an international applicant and have a few questions on the documents that should reach USC for my application to be reviewed.

Going through the checklist, I believe for now if I upload the scanned copy of the transcript that should suffice for the application to be reviewed. Please let me know if I haven't understood this correctly. Official transcripts can be sent to the University directly at the time of decision right?

Are there any other documents that need to reach Marshall before the deadline for my application to be reviewed? In the mal that I received post-submission they mentioned that a document "Confidential Statement for Financing Studies at USC" should be mailed to their address. I was not aware of it :( and I dont have the time to send it before the deadline for R1. Would this push my application to be considered only for R2? I am anxious about this :(.

Thanks alot in advance!

Regards,
Prasaad

Guys, financial docs are not needed at the time of application. If other docs have reached on time you will be fine.... :)

I doubt it,
Marshall is non-rolling admissions.

I did for Merage, rolling admission, but I don't feel relieved at all..

why?

Last year the round 1 deadline was also on November 1st and the invites were hitting on November 23rd. I don't know if it will follow the same pattern but that might give us a ballpark idea of how long we'll wait until we hear at least something from Marshall.

@bruinboi,

you must have used a different ID on appyourself right? jk

haha yes I sure did! Question about transcripts: I submitted online on the 27th with a scanned official transcript and ordered a transcript sent to USC. if the transcript didn't get there by the 1st but my online submission was already done, am I still in round 1? Or would they push me to round 2 for not having my hard copy transcript there on time?

They will evaluate your profile with the unofficial transcripts. However, their decision is not final until they get the official stuff.

I've been pretty disappointed with the USC admissions process so far. I am taking the week of Thanksgiving off to take a tour and a class visit there. Unfortunately, I was informed (after my third e-mail attempt!) that although school is in session that week, they do not offer any class visits, tours or information sessions. Granted, it's Thanksgiving week and I'm sure there will be some people on vacation, but to have NOTHING available? Pretty disappointing overall.

Since I'll be in town anyway I'll probably head over there and do a self-guided thing, but that's fairly unhelpful. Anybody having the same problems?

I'm not sure Marshall gets the kind of excitement or attention as other schools like Booth, Ross, or Kellogg. Heck, Marshall didn't even have the "Calling All Fall 2010" thread last year until November 23rd! In other words, we are ahead of the game even having posts for this school at this point. This 2011 thread is already a lot more successful than last year's thread.

And there's school competition within the city. Anderson looks like a great program.

Absolutely true. I'll be honest, the housing situation has me a little concerned as well so I guess I'm just not as pumped about Marshall as my other schools.

Good to see a discussion going on. I am an international applicant from Asia and most of my fellow applicants view Marshall as an expensive school and hence prefer not to apply. Could be one reason why the threads are empty!

Also is anyone in touch with Marshall students? What do they say about the program?

Here is a snippet posted on another website by a current Marshall student:

I'm currently a first year in the Marshall MBA program and I can say that I had the exact same questions you currently have.

The Trojan network is definitely SC’s most valuable asset and the sense of community is felt from day 1. Everything that you’ve heard regarding the extensive networks that Marshall reaches in to is very true. What sets the networking apart is that the people are willing to go out of their way to help a fellow Trojan.

Regarding the “open-door” policies, the faculty and staff are very accessible. Besides having standard office hours and distributing contact info, many of the professors come before and after classes and talk to students regarding any questions they may have. For example, my group and I approached a professor last week regarding a competition we’re entering and she was more than happy to set aside time for us to pick her brain and get some feedback.

The competition if definitely there and the course work can be challenging, however, everyone in the program is very positive and supportive and helps you get through it.

Han

I hope that helps. Also, as to your question about the housing situation near USC, it can suck. There isn't enough housing on or near campus, due to it being smack dab in the center of Los Angeles. You might live on campus, nearby, or have a commute. Also, because there is limited supply, the cost is higher than some other areas (think New York city prices). If you live on campus, prices might be slightly less, but the space there is limited, both in supply and in square footage. I used to live in SoCal so I know a bit about it already.

Still, if you are from Asia, USC is a very strong school to go to, at least according to my research. It has VERY strong ties in the Asian business market and pushes a program that incorporates Asian businesses.
