Does anyone know if there is some kind of dress code for admit weekend??

I was told "business casual."

Again, GMATClubbers interested in meeting up during admit weekend please PM me.

Did anyone get their login info for the welcome website? For password mine just says "******" so I can't seem to login.

Did you get an e-mail for it? I'd recommend calling up admissions and double-check.

Haven't tried mine yet, but I've got the ******* as well for my password.

I was hoping we could just copy and paste it somehow and it would work. But I'm guessing it's an error in a mass email they sent.

hey guys,

Need your opinion: I need to decide between UNC Kenan-Flagler (no scholarship) vs USC (half-tuition waiver). I have 5 yrs exp in IT and my future career aspirations lie in technology management/consulting. I see that UNC is slightly higher ranked vis-a-vis USC. However, I guess that location of USC might be favorable for me getting into good tech companies in california in technology consulting, product management roles. Scholarship offered by USC is another compelling factor. So, which one would you guys recommend between UNC and USC? Any opinions are appreciated..

I was looking at the same thing. I'm interested in going into high tech, and going to school on the west coast just made more sense to me. Better recruiting, close to home base for more companies, and I found there were more students interested in high tech out west. USC was the best school for me.

Outside of admit weekend, can people who went on a tour give us an idea what the dress code is like during class? I found an interesting split in east coast vs. west coast schools' classroom attire. East coast was much more formal, often button down shirt and khakis, along with some blazers. West coast I found more jeans and t-shirts/polos. But obviously my sample size was pretty small, and I didn't get a chance to visit USC.

Anybody have firsthand knowledge of this?

Thanks!

I've haven't visited the East Coast MBA programs, but as someone who did undergraduate studies at Haas, interacted with Haas grad students, and currently works at UC Berkeley, I'd agree that we are relatively informal in the classroom settings.

It's not uncommon to see jeans//polos at all amongst graduate students. Business casual (nice khakis, button down shirt) was also pretty normal. I was always under the impression people who had business formal clothing were doing interviews/presentations/working and not just showing up to class.

Then again, we've got professors who show up in jeans and sandals, so maybe it's just our campus atmosphere.

So happy and relieved to receive a half-tuition fellowship letter yesterday. Looks like most likely I will end up at Marshall despite my desire to wait and see what happens with UCLA waitlist.

I will be driving up from SD for the admit weekend and am only attending the Saturday events.. Still like to meet up with the fellow GMatclubbers.

I went to Marshall for undergrad and we had a few classes in the MBA building (Popovich) - definitely informal (with the exception of class projects and interviews). SC is one of those schools big on school spirit and lots of students wear SC gear to class (and flip flops). I agree with the tshirts/polos & jeans assessment as well.

hi, diego77.
I also received the official offer letter yesterday.
There's not any words about scholarship in the letter on Marshall's envelope.
Does that mean they do not offer me any fellowship?
Would you share your G/T and working experiences with us, which part gives you the a half tuition fellowship opportunity? thanks.

Your scholarship letter will be with the offer letter if you are given one. The adcom i interviewed with said scholarships are based on your entire package. There's no one thing they will judge you on. I've declined my admit yesterday. Hopefully one of you will receive my 50% scholarship.

I wonder if there's a way to bring that up. "Oh hey, I heard that kelea declined her scholarship... Can I have it now? Pretty please??" I can't imagine that going well.

sapphire1: As kelea mentioned, it is the overall credentials that determines the fellowship award. However, I am reasonably confident that a high GMAT will be the most important factor of all, especially anything higher than 730 will get anyone over the hump and put him or her in that 30% bracket of getting some type of fellowship.

Moreover, as folks decline their offers and go to other schools, those awards will come back into play. So, if I were you, I would get in touch with the adcom a week or two after the May 1st deposit deadline and convey your interest and need in a diplomatic way. Nothing is guaranteed, but there is no downside to making a polite request.

By the way, I would not mention anything about others declining and making a case for yourself. I would not play that "entitlement" card, as it is very similar to something like myself going to UCLA adcom and asking them to admit me from the wailtlist as I know many folks from here have already declined their admit offers to UCLA. It may backfire, just my two cents.

Hi Guys,

I am wait listed.

However today I got an email from Marshal about financial Aid dead lines.

Follow these steps and meet all deadlines to be considered for need-based financial aid. Early completion is encouraged -- the sooner you apply, the sooner you will be notified of your financial aid eligibility.

Did everybody get that, or can I hope that I have a chance?
