From my visit at SC, the students did mention recruiting being one of the weaker points of the school. They didn't give too much detail but it seems like you will have to work a little harder at your own recruitment but if you do, you will get what you want.

Hehe, that's kind of funny because I got the same message from my visit at UCLA. The students I talked to attributed the school's recent slip in the rankings to the sub-par performance of their career center. And for what is worth the % of job offers obtained through school-facilitated activities is higher at USC. At the end of the day, no matter which school you choose, you have to be prepared to do the legwork.

Thanks for the responses guys. So who is coming for the admit weekend this Fri-Sat. Would be nice to meet the folks who have been pretty helpful throughout this process.

I'm just saying this as someone who went to USC/Marshall for undergrad so MBA program is likely going to be completely different but overall, the career services at USC is kind of disorganized for whatever reason. The network is great as a talking point in SoCal to use to find your own way and make connections; good luck trying to go through any school-sponsored events or online portals to get leads, etc., at least from my experience with them.

Again, their MBA program will hopefully be better so don't worry. And you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who went to SC who ended up not liking it so I am not trying to bash them; just my experience as an SC alum who lives in LA who has looked for jobs in the area. Alas, I didn't even apply to Marshall (need to leave CA) but congrats to everyone joining the Trojan family!

To me( and probably to most) the whole idea of an MBA is to learn the basics of business, make connections and land a good job in my desired field. Now it doesn't matter if I get the job through the college sponsored events or by networking with other alumni. As long as the USC is able to help me get a job interview , either through the career center or with the help of alumni, it does the job for me. So if the weak career center is complemented by a strong and helpful alumni network, then I guess its alright. The only thing that I don't understand is that if the alumni are influential and helpful enough to help a self initiative student get an interview, then how come they are not influencing their consulting companies to actually go and hire from Marshall ?
I am sure there is some naive presumption here on my part, but it's still a little intriguing.

So you called them yesterday? Did they give any other inputs regarding the WL? I could not reach them. Will try again on Monday and post updates. @Others - Thank you for keeping your fingers crossed![/quote

yeah i called them on Friday i think. they said the number of waitlisted students depends on the quality of the applicants..(DUHH) ..so they didnt have an answer to that question... did you talk to them?

I decided not to go to admit weekend. I feel like we're going to get the same information during orientation, and I don't want to spend the money for a last minute cross country flight (two, actually, with the lovely wife) for what may end up just being one final recruiting pitch. I'm extremely excited for school, but this weekend didn't excite me too much.

I'm definitely going, and very excited about it. And all things being equal, I'd like to go to the admit weekend. But it just wasn't worth $1,000 in flight costs for the wife and I to go out.

hi, pre-Trojans!
I am still waiting for the official offer letter to find out whether there is scholarship in it or not.
I got the admit email on 29th,March and i am international applicant. Any international applicant received the official letter? Does anyone know how much percentage of the students will get the scholarship?

At an information session I was told that around 30% of the students get either full or half fellowships/scholarships.

Round 3 applicant here. Haven't heard anything since I submitted my app on March 15th. Anyone know whether they have begun to review R3 applications yet? Also, when I login to my application, under the "status" section it says: submitted. It's been this way since I submitted the app. Will this change eventually?

I am an international student ( Indian, based out of Singapore), I received the email on 29th and the official binder on 3rd April with 50% fellowship. Just hold tight, you will be getting your binder soon. They are sending it through Fedex priority shipping.
