Why would nink know?
 I agree. mbagirl gives me too much credit.

2 years ago, they always released and called admits before decision dates. But R1 and R2 deadlines were much later than what they are now.

Last yr, they stuck to decision date in R1 but called early for R2.

Therefore, this yr - your guess is as good as mine.

Sorry that you guys have to wait but I went through this 2 years ago. It sucks, I know.

Here's an excerpt that has been quoted earlier on this forum-

Bruce DelMonico: For round one, it will be a single release; it will be right around that decision deadline date. For round two, we tend to be a little more fluid there, and we play it by ear because the time frame is a little bit longer, and the round tends to be larger. So we often will break that up into a couple of release points. We don't have any set release points for round two; it depends on when we feel that we are comfortable with a sufficiently critical mass of applications that we can release them before the deadline. So it's usually two or three release points leading up to that deadline. But for round one, it will just be the one release in mid-December.

Even if that's still the plan, I still wouldn't expect any early decisions just yet. Look at it this way: The enrollment deadline for R1 admits was last Friday the 25th (correct me if I'm wrong about that). So adcom hasn't had a complete view of what the class looked like so far until yesterday. If I were them, I'd have wanted that data set before making too many R2 decisions. Given the time it probably takes to review and make decisions on that "critical mass" of applications... I'm not counting on hearing anything before mid-March.

(And that's the logic I'm using to keep myself from checking my phone compulsively. :-D It's working so far, but I'm getting antsy too.)

I think of nink as this omniescient presence hovering over the admissions committee as a sponge of knowledge, rather than a second year student lol.

I will try to remain patient. I just really loved Yale. Sorry!

Patience is key in the application process. Personally, I have my Yale interview on the 21st of March. Excited about coming to campus and getting to know YSOM. Not sure if they will have enough time to give me a decision by notification deadline.

Nink, is this the first year that they interview a good portion of applicants later in the round?

Thanks!

Hey, I'm also interviewing on the 21st. Does seem crazy that they'll notify us two days later about admission.

No, I don't think there's any visible change in trend compared to last year. Keep in mind that Bulldog Days is in mid April. I would say adcom will make a lot of the decisions by then so they can have as many admits to the event as possible.

Does anyone know where I can see an example wait list response letter? I want to know how I should express my interest and weave in any updates. Also, do you ask for feedback before or after sending the first response letter?

Any help would be appreciated!

It depends on various things (yield from R1, R2, etc, and WL from those rounds and how they stack up against later rounds). Also, the class size is rather small so compared to bigger programs, WL does not move as much. Few of the waitlisted applicants from R1 saw some sort of movement since they were waitlisted, so I see that as a good sign. That being said, WL thing sucks but it's part of the bschool application process. But do keep the communication line open with your waitlist manager.

Yup

I will PM you.

Also, I met an alum last week for lunch in NYC (Class of 09). He was originally waitlisted without interview back when he applied. He said, talk to your WL manager, send in your updates (if you have new info - raise, more responsibilities, etc; also in your WL feedback, if they addressed something like low Q score on GMAT and you ended up taking math or stat class, include progress in the update letter. Keep them brief). Back when he applied he said they started interviewing/reviewing WL applicants starting in mid or late March. (my guess is that R1 WL applicants, if interviewed since, will get reviewed together with R2 applicants. If not, they will be reviewed after R2 decision date) Things probably changed a little but I am still convinced that they will review as many as possible before the Bulldog days so they can get you guys up here.

If you are interested in YSOM, just stay focused and do everything you can (on your end) to show your interest. Keep in touch with the WL manager. They do send out interviews to WL applicants after R2. They did so in the past. Just don't give up yet. (This applies to your other schools). Good luck

Also, from this point and on, and this invitation is only for WL applicants only - if you receive interview invitation, PM me. I will prep you personally.

Any new invites this week? Still waiting, no invite, no WL... R2 applicant. Should I send an email to SOM to re-iterate my interest? Were I to get an offer I would most definitely accept.
